Name: Patriciana (Patina) Aurelius-Faberi
Age: 20
Pronouns: she/her

Appearance: The Aurelius and Faberi lines have been mixed-race for generations, and Patina has ended up with a pretty mellowed-out mix of human, giant, and... various other traits. No one knows where the seafoam green hair really comes from, but it has been in the Faberi family for several generations now. Patina stands a head taller than most humans, and is powerfully built from years of smithing. She is a coppery-tan from her travels in exile and prefers simple clothes. Observant onlookers may notice she wears no metal; she tightens her tunic with rope, and her many ear piercings have all closed up.
Personality: Patina is generally very shy and tries not to stand out... to limited success. She is nervous with strangers and has a tendency to catastrophize, regularly spiraling in and out of panic. The only time she's confident is when she's nerding out over metal alloys and metalwork.
Brief History: Patina hails from a long line of metalworkers, ranging from royal goldsmiths to renowned clockwork-makers to highly-sought-after armorers. However, her parents cheated a powerful sorcerer on a commission, and as punishment, Patina was cursed to corrode all metals that come within ten feet of her. She was exiled for being unable to join the family business and has been wandering ever since. If she wins, would wish for the curse to be lifted.

Fighting Style: As a former smith, Patina has both the strength and expertise to swing a pretty big weapon, except that she doesn't keep one of her own because of the curse. She relies primarily on disarming her opponents and fighting dirty with her bare hands. In a pinch, she can catch and throw projectiles or use an opponent's enchanted weapon for a few seconds... but her aim isn't great, and she's best-suited for close-range wrestling matches against armed and armored opponents, as she can use her curse to break their weapons and armor.
Weapon: Grappling and open-hand close-combat techniques, primarily. And the curse, haha.
Abilities: The most prominent of Patina's abilities is her curse, which corrodes metals within ten feet of her person--even through existing oxide cover (allowing her to break even titanium, which in most cases is structurally protected by its own corroded layer). Her curse affects different alloys at different rates. Testing has revealed that she can even impact enchanted metals, though the clashing magics can be unpredictable.

Arguably more powerful is her ability to analyze metals. Patina's experience with metalwork means she has decent knowledge of the strengths, weaknesses, and even rate of deterioration of different metals, and can act accordingly.

Patina is not supernaturally strong, but does pack exactly the punch one would expect from someone of her size and musculature.


Strengths: Patina is a powerhouse against metal-armed opponents, and can cause incredible amounts of damage to her surroundings by taking out nails, screws, and other metal fasteners. She's physically capable, though not to an extreme degree. She's also very knowledgeable about anything involving metalwork.
Weaknesses: Unfortunately, Patina might take herself out by unintentionally destroying the structures under her feet. She also has a hard time against distanced opponents, magic, and non-metallic materials. The fact that she cannot wield metal weapons can also be a hindrance.
An environment you struggle in: Patina would have the most trouble in man-made environments, especially when elevated, as her curse--while it can be used to her advantage--will cause metal structures and fasteners in range to break. Things can get especially dicey if the structure of her environment is somehow hidden, either magically or behind decoration, as it keeps her from predicting how her curse will affect her surroundings.
An environment you excel in: A bit of an all-rounder, she has no problems with weather, so long as she's dressed appropriately, and Patina is basically a normal person in natural environs, without particular strengths or weaknesses. She is, however, at her strongest when she can use her curse to intentionally cause damage, such as laying traps by weakening a beam someone else may walk on. She just has to be careful, as her strongest environment is also where she might be most vulnerable.

Other: Patina is here to make friends with other strong people! If she doesn't win, she'd love to have company while she continues her journey to break her curse. She also carries a bag of spare animal-bone buttons.
