Tunda

Return to The Grand Arena

Creator: Spearmint
Roleplay: The Grand Arena
Nickname: Tunda

Name: Tunda
Age: 23
Pronouns: he/she/they (Tunda doesn't have a preference for any one, just that you rotate between them. Using two of his pronouns in a post is probably good-- like, you could use "she/her" in the first half and then "they/them" in the second half.)

Appearance: Tunda is rather short, standing at 5'2". Their hair stands up from their head like a flame, although they dye it every so often so that it looks like those neat flame colors from chemistry.

Their physical strength and agility are a little above average. Tunda keeps telling themself that they'll work out more, but they'd much rather practice their magic, y'know?
Tunda dresses in layers, with the innermost layer being nonflammable. The outer layer consists of clothes that are light and easy to move in. Typically this consists of a loose white shirt tucked into simple black pants.
They have lively brown eyes that seem to take on a golden sheen when direct sunlight falls across them. Their mouth is usually dancing into a smirk, and their grin seems too big for their face.

Personality: Tunda is a pretty happy-go-lucky character. He treats fights like entertainment, and if he loses a fight, once he's all patched up, he'll shake hands with the winner with genuine good humor. To him, the Grimoire's Contest is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make exciting memories that he can recount to his grandchildren in a few decades.
What will rile him up, though, is if you say anything bad about his homeland. Also if you criticize any of his favorite foods. But Tunda can never keep a grudge for long.
Brief History: In the dusty lands of Tuk, most people are born with an affinity for fire. Despite the sun that beats down all year round, Tukkians can often be found roasting marshrooms (a sweet, fluffy kind of mushroom) around a fire. As a kid, Tunda would constantly get into fights with the other children. Although most Tukkians are fire-resistant, Tunda was too skilled at manipulating fire for his own good... The other children were all mildly terrified of him by the time he was twelve. Once he came of age, his family sent him off into the world so he would stop pestering everyone to fight him.

Fighting Style: Tunda likes to light her enemies on fire. If they're not flammable, she'll find something that is and toss it at them.
She usually carries around some small objects that look like marshrooms (it's a nostalgia thing). She's infused some of her magic into them and tweaked the effects, which can range from a burst of fireworks to a deadly burn.
Weapon: .*o-*mAgIc*-o*. And her homemade explosives (see above).
Abilities: Tunda makes good use of bursts of fire and flaming projectiles. She usually tries to intimidate her enemy once the round starts and to surround them with a ring of fire to trap them. Then she launches her explosives and hopes the other person isn't too flammable (she doesn't actually want to kill anyone).
Of course, this approach works best against opponents who are less skilled than Tunda... Against more agile opponents or those with special abilities, Tunda is forced to adapt. She may attempt to set her outer layer of clothes on fire to deter her opponent from trying to physically attack her. She's weak against ranged attacks, however.

Strengths: Tunda's just the right person for lighting up birthday candles, or starting forest fires.
In terms of personality, their good humor has helped them get through challenges and continuously learn instead of giving up. They also tend to get along well with others.
In terms of fighting, Tunda has good stamina and can summon flames in a split second, even when they are physically exhausted. They haven't hit their limit yet in terms of the amount of fire they can summon.
Weaknesses: They might not do so great at stopping fires, though... R.I.P. to the burnt cake and the decimated forest.
Tunda can sometimes come across as flippant and indifferent. They find it difficult to sympathize with others when they are feeling down, and are more likely to offer a joke rather than a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on.
For fighting, Tunda is pretty lacking in the defense department; she focuses on offense. The only thing that comes close to defense is lighting herself on fire, but that only works against direct physical attacks. While Tunda isn't slow, they also aren't fast, so they may find it difficult to dodge. They also don't have the most control over their flames, meaning once they shoot a burst of fire, they can't control its direction or intensity.
An environment you struggle in: Watery environments. Tunda's also not the most comfortable with wide-open spaces where people can target them from a distance.
An environment you excel in: Dry, dusty environments with flammable items. Or cityscapes if the buildings are made of wood. Enclosed spaces, perhaps, if they're small enough that Tunda could try to suffocate their opponent.

Other: If Tunda won, he would wish that everyone could be as happy as him. While that sounds good in theory, Tunda hasn't really thought out how that would work in practice...
