Cyrin Bridger

Return to A Day Can Last Forever

Creator: SilverNight
Roleplay: A Day Can Last Forever
Nickname: Cyrin

Name: Cyrin Bridger
Age: 23
Pronouns: Bigender, he/they

Appearance: Cyrin has dark hair with an undercut, deep brown eyes, and olive skin. They’re a 5’11” tall human, with long limbs and a slender, graceful composure. They might dress as whatever’s needed for a disguise, but if the goal is to sneak around and not to be seen, he’ll wear dark clothes with a hood to stick to the shadows in. He’s talented at making himself look very different with just a few edits to his appearance, and it’s not rare for him to walk out of a room, enter again shortly looking different, and not have people recognize them.
SuperSuit: Cyrin’s suit is designed to look like his preferred style of clothing— dark, functional, just a little edgy. He’d prefer for people to think he isn’t actually wearing anything protective or with additional purposes. In reality, it’s actually bullet-proof, natural armor against other projectiles and weapons, and also monitors his vitals and the like. It’s also got a bunch of hidden pockets (not a super special thing, but incredibly useful to them).
Temporal Signature: The glimmer of cave crystals. A shadow glimpsed in the corner of the eye, following. Snow falling on a vibrant and active city. The clink of champagne glasses. The rush that comes from standing on a roof on a windy day. TV static blurring a face and distorting a voice.

Relative Powers: For Cyrin specifically, nothing, but their world does have people with magic and so that would be noted.
Special Powers: Cyrin has no magic, but he has got some special abilities: he’s very acrobatic and stealthy. Some of his talents include climbing (mostly buildings, but other things too), sleight of hand, sneaking around, and making unlikely escapes.
Weapon: Cyrin mostly uses throwing knives, but he also makes use of pistols and he’ll do well with other guns too. It depends on the task. He has some skill with other weapons that don’t rely on aim/precision, but they aren’t his proficiency. Also, these aren't really weapons, but he has a lot of gadgets including a grappling hook gun, a device that shoots out a wire to connect the gap between buildings, and a very fancy jetpack.
Combat Style: They generally have three ways of fighting: the sneaky way, the very bold way, and the improv way. The sneaky way is pretty apparent, as it involves what Cyrin intends to be a quick way to win a fight without being noticed and giving the target a chance to react. The bold way usually features their jetpack, where they swoop or hover above and either throw their knives or fire. For clear reasons, this is only a valid strategy in outdoor spaces or very, very large rooms with high ceilings. As for the improv way, it will just be whatever action Cyrin can think of in two seconds, usually when something quick and unplanned needs to happen in an emergency. This results in so many different solutions that no specific one can be listed as an example, but it does happen frequently enough that it counts as its own category of attack.

Personality: Cyrin is a bit quiet, but not in the shy way: he mostly listens and keeps an eye out for what others might be hiding. When he speaks, it’s more often than not a witty remark, and if he’s so inclined he might occasionally share a word of wisdom that surprises others. Everything is a puzzle to them, and they love solving challenges, taking them apart and finding the best solution. This makes them a great planner, but they dislike having to follow plans made by others. They’ll often follow their own idea of how they think things should go, just with the same end result. This might happen if he thinks the plan is ineffective, poorly thought out, or even just too boring. It’s not unlike him to do something a little extravagantly, even if it’s unneeded. He’s very much a chaotic neutral person: reckless, doesn’t live by anyone else’s rules, has a good heart but doesn’t really know what to do with it.
Personal Strengths: Clever, a strategic thinker, strong-willed, has good focus, can stay calm under pressure, quick to act. Can be surprisingly empathetic and can often have some good advice for someone who is struggling. He usually knows when to be gentle and drop the tough act.
Personal Weaknesses: Tries to act selfish, rebellious against others’ ideas, stubborn, impulsive, slow to trust. He often frustrates others with the way he acts, and he doesn’t do all that well as part of a team. They don’t like sharing about who they are and get worried about probing questions.

Backstory: Cyrin was born on the planet of Aphirah into a wealthy merchant family with powerful connections, and they were raised ambitious and a little bit spoiled. Storm City, the third largest city in his world, is nestled in the cold mountains known as Renvara in the northernmost region and was his hometown. Cyrin comes from an ethnic minority native to those mountains, and he’s developed quite the appreciation for the landscape, but has always felt a bit of a disconnect from his cultural heritage from living in a mansion in the richest neighborhood to the city, where modernity was important to the lifestyle.

Growing up, he soon began thinking that he could get away with anything, since his parents would always be able to get him out of whatever trouble he landed himself in. With absent, perpetually busy family members, he often found himself unsupervised, and so Cyrin would get into mischief. Their stealth skills developed from years of sneaking around to steal a treat from the kitchens, heading out to the city, or just to cause a little chaos.

Eventually, his roguish and rebellious ways began to slowly frustrate his family. When he was 20, Cyrin was finally told that they needed to leave the estate and get a job, or his parents would cut him off from the Bridger family fortune. He left, heading to the capital of Crystal City, and did have one for a short while, but the lives that others led bored him. They wanted something more thrilling and risky, something that would really allow them to live on the edge. Thanks to their disregard for the rules and their love of money, Cyrin was a good fit for being a mercenary, and so they joined a group of them. He doesn’t use his last name as a mercenary, and his various disguises keep him from other connecting him to his family. The Bridger family and the world in general still think he’s out there living normally, and he makes appearances to see people and maintain the appearance of his false life.
Reason for Joining this Adventure: Being a very open person to new experiences, Cyrin had a “why not” approach to the TS Tachyon mission and was mostly surprised to be selected. He would have expected Aphirah to be just another planet to whoever made the decision, and he feels a little strange at being its representative.
Any Prior Experience with Time Travel or Being a Superhero: He has no experience with time travel, and he’d never consider himself a hero, but he is a vigilante with great talent and he’s thinks that was enough for whoever selected him. They don’t believe Aphirah has many heroes anyway.
Any Fears or Concerns: Cyrin isn’t close to too many people, but there are four people on Aphirah with a place in their heart, and they’re worried they will be too different to them after they return from this trip, since it could be any amount of time onboard.

Other: Cyrin has a soft spot for all kids. He’s much more willing to talk about Renvara or Aphirah than himself. He has a policy whenever he’s asked a personal question that no one’s entitled to an honest answer. If he decides he’d rather not share the truth after hearing it, he will lie, but it won’t be the type of lie that could deceive someone or be even remotely believable: instead, they will make up some outlandish and absurd answer that could never be true, and that’s their way of letting people know they don’t want to answer.

May you never steal, lie, or cheat. But if you must steal, then steal away my sorrows. And if you must lie, then lie with me all the nights of your life. And if you must cheat, then please, cheat death.
