Appearance: Railyn is tall and lanky, with a thin face and curly auburn hair. He is also growing what he thinks is a beard, but it is mainly stubble. He usually has a slight smile on his face, but also he cannot hide what he's thinking or his emotions, they are immediately plastered all over his expression. He is lean, with most of his muscles being in his arms, much to his chagrin. He has tried gaining muscle, but it never works. Starting at his wrist and ending just above his elbows, he has faint tattoos of a spiralling dragon, creatures of myth and legend that just appeared on his arms when he was a toddler. They have grown with him, increasing in intensity as he aged, with the maw of the duo dragons ending at his palms. He wears loose clothing with autumn colors, and he usually wears a crop top. Look at his piccrew for a visual aid.
Thematic: Autumn colors, reds, dragon scales and tattoos. Rage and passion, magical intensity and primality.
Aura Color: Maroon/autumnal red. When it is partially active, it swirls with various warm colors, vaguely looking like falling leaves. When it is fully active, such as absorbing enemy magic, it looks like shifting dragon scales.
Magical Abilities: Railyn's magical studies so far has been focused on Sigils, the use of magical inscryption to manipulate primal elements.
Affiinity: Dragon's Rage - Railyn has tattoos spiralling down his forearms into his fists, naturally appearing at an early age. He can use these as conduits for his aura to unleash a more carnal form of magic. If he funnels his aura into those tattoos, his forearms and hands become extremely hot. He can then unleash this magic either by blasts of magical fire or by temporarily imbuing an object with his aura. The latter he mostly uses on his chakrams to give them great power and leave behind a trail of fire.
Magical Weapon: Chakrams. When stored, the circular blades' hilts fit together, forming one circular blade. The chakrams are Artificed, meaning that they are minorly imbued with magical resonance. For Railyn, this means that he can mentally guide his chakrams and throw them, extending his fighting range. He can also recall them back to his hands using this Artificing.
Battle Style: Railyn uses his chakrams as an extension of his arms and his aura. He often focuses on close combat and using his agility and his opponent's body against them. He is very lean and fast, so he is a capable and agile fighter. He is not really a leader in the battlefield, but he does use his brain to think outside the box. He is loyal, though, and a fairly good team player. Because he uses chakrams, his fighting style is very rhythmic and circular in nature. While a swordwielder has basic and rigid attack patterns, Railyn's attack patterns mimic a more loose nature, almost akin to dancing. This battle style requires a lot of energy, so while Railyn has high speed, he has low endurance. If he cannot overpower his enemy quickly, he must retreat or rely on magic.
Personality: Railyn likes to go with the flow, and use humor to lighten the mood and shelter his insecurities. He is a very anxious guy, and has fairly low self worth and self esteem. He constantly seeks validation and approval, and sets low standards for himself. He doesn't view himself as competitive, but he secretly is. He is also just always preparing to be let down, especially letting himself down. He loves quick quips.
Personal Strengths: He is a mediator at heart. He can make friends pretty quickly, and he can find the joke of a lot of situations. He is an optimist at heart because he has gone through too much. He is loyal and gets things done, and that applies to friendships as well. He is known as a problem solver.
Personal Weaknesses: He is, unfortunately, a mediator at heart. He is kinda a bleeding heart because of insecurities that were never fixed and childhood ~trauma~. The right combo of words can stick itself into Railyn's head, no matter their intentions. Railyn also always has doubts about his place amongst others at basically all times. He has emotional object permanence issues. So, he always thinks his friends don't like him or don't care about him or are talking bad behind his back. His constant seeking for validation or approval can be much at times.
Backstory: Railyn grew up in a small, lower to middle class family in Glinthaven with four older brothers. While his family wasn't horrible, his brothers were all a bunch of trouble makers, which made Railyn want to make up for them and be the perfect, obediant, rule-abiding child. He had to grow up quickly and sheltered his problems from those around him, which stunted him emotionally. He was a quiet, studious child who acted like an adult because that was expected of him.
Railyn was a surprise child after his parents only really wanted three children. He was also born with a lot of medical complications, which turned out to be his body not really understanding his magical capabilities and thus attacking them. While he has grown out of most of his medical issues, his body is worn out, and it sometimes feels like he is living in a body twice his actual age.
When he was younger, he largely ignored his magical powers, instead focusing on his education. But, his yearn for something bigger was always there, in the background. When all of his older brothers moved out, he finally did something for himself and declared he would be a mage. His parents didn't quite understand, as he was the only one in his family who magic, but they supported him where they could. Railyn had a lot of catching up to do, but he did it. He then applied to Lux Academy, not really thinking he would be accepted, but to his shock and somewhat to his horror, he was accepted in.
Reason for Applying to Lux Academy: Railyn really did it as a joke to himself. He wanted to go theoretically, but realistically he never thought he would make it in. He's always seeking to prove himself, but this opportunity has actually forced him to approach that approval, and that gives him a lot of anxiety. He will be constantly balancing out his need to prove himself and his competitive nature with his anxieties and constantly preparing for the worst.
Connections to Lux Academy: He lives in Glinthaven, born and raised, so he is used to being around Lux Academy and the culture shock of it, but his family never went and he is a first gen Lux Academic.
Personal Goal: To prove himself and graduate Lux Academy, and maybe, just maybe, get a God Crystal. He also wants to make something of himself and do something that impacts more than just him. He wants to make his mark on the world and be remembered for something good he did for others.
Personal Secret: Railyn had a crush on his childhood best friend and it made things weird between them, with neither of them really knowing what was going on. Now, he has a barrier approaching relationships, and doesn't really know the difference between platonic friendship and romantic friendship. This stunting of him caused him to use the new international communications to develop probably not good relationships over people he never met in person.
Personal Fear: Fear of failure and rejection. And heights.

Thoughts on Railyn:
Cyra: Railyn and Cyra will be good friends eventually. Railyn's himbo nature would remind them of Saturn, so Cyra's going to eventually crack. Once Railyn realizes Cyra's true nature, boom friendship.Tl;dr: Slowburn friendship.
Edalyn: Eda admires Railyn and can connect with his wish accomplish something bigger than herself. They would get along really well if things line up. Ry gives off the almost anxious energy that Eda feels inside, and she would be able to let down some of her own walls around him.
Thane: Thane isn't going to feel particularly strongly one way or another about Railyn. It isn't really in her nature to really like someone, but she will probably trust his intentions in most things, even if she thinks what he actually ends up doing is extremely stupid. She's also not one to be super reassuring though, and Railyn may end up getting his feelings hurt-- though most of the time, even if she says something bluntly, she says it in a way that isn't meant to attack the other person, and if it is clear she hurt someone's feelings, she will reiterate that it is her personal opinion and to not hold it so highly if it's really hurting them. At least, that's what she'll do if it's over something trivial like "how was my performance?" or "do you like my clothes?" Because of this, she probably won't end up being too much of a pain towards Railyn specifically. Honestly though, Thane trusting Railyn's intentions and that he probably meant something good out of it, even if something awful happened, is a really big thing for her. It's definitely not how she feels about a lot of people.
Safiana: At first she's going to be a little confused maybe if Railyn lets his insecurities show a little because she won't really be able to see through any shield he puts up through humor, but if she gets a glimpse of him not really being satisfied with himself Safi would probably understand a little bit and feel some sort of connection in terms of not feeling good enough although she will have a hard time wrapping her head around parents treating their son that way, given the examples she's had in her life.
Euphemia: She would view him as a pushover? She would be, well, put off by his optimism. I don't think she would mind him, but she def wouldn't try to befriend him. I think if she spent more time around him, she would lean more towards "he's alright" rather than "I don't care." The way it is now though, she'd probably just grin and bear if they're together/around each other. It would stay civil, and that's all she would want.
Kynina: Kynina would probably try to look out for him. She's pretty good at telling who tends to be generally more anxious, and so she'd do her best to be especially gentle and supportive of him. She'd try to validate him often once she noticed it helps him. If anyone was being harsh to him, she'd stick up for him (unless he wanted to fight his own battles of course).
Ezra: ???
Aapeli: To be honest, Pel might be a little jealous of Railyn's ability to crack jokes and make fast friends. Humor is something Pel enjoys, but he has trouble improv-ing something funny on the spot. (He's definitely had that "oh I just came up with a joke I wish I'd said four hours ago" moment before.) So yeah, Pel would respect Ry for his ability to make others laugh, but at times feel a little envious of him as well. (Though he most likely won't let that envy show.) Pel probably won't be the one to give Railyn the most validation, but if Railyn does something well, Pel will give him a genuine compliment.
