Taeviláissonn Ráidon Babalabashacekep

Return to Myth Arisen

Creator: winterwolf0100
Roleplay: Myth Arisen
Nickname: Taev, Ráidon

Age: Looks around 22 but is actually well into his thousands.

Gender: Male

Race: Fey’ri

Role: The Forgotten Prince

Appearance: Taev is around 5’8”. His bright red hair would be curly if he grew it out, but he keeps it very short. When he was a boy, he had a thick head of curly red hair, but after being forced out of the kingdom, he cut it to be less recognizable. His eyes are a startlingly light gray, almost looking icy or white at times. His unnaturally pale skin has several scars on it, and he has defined muscles, but not overly so. He is fairly skinny, so lean would be a better word to describe him than muscular. Like his sister, he was taught weaponry from an earlier age, but he prefers working with a spear than a sword, though he carries both strapped on his back. He wears a simple necklace around his neck with white metal leaves, each representing one fallen member of his family. They make his eyes pop out, giving him a more intimidating presence.

Personality: Taev is confident but not flashy about it. He is observant but can sometimes overlook the most important details, and he is very protective, to a fault, of those he cares about. He can put on a “prince of the people” persona, smiling and making people happy, but he gets quickly drained by it, and he’ll feel very tired afterwards. He’s afraid to trust people because of what happened to his family, which is why it terrifies him how easily he finds himself trusting those around him, even if he shouldn’t. He is prideful and has a hard time admitting he’s wrong, though he’s willing to apologize for something if he realizes it is hurting another person, specifically someone he cares about.
- Strengths: Taev can easily hold his own in sword fighting, but he prefers using a spear. Although he doesn’t like killing, if he is fighting, up close and physical is how he’ll do it. He will speak up if he is being wronged against and if others are, but he knows where the limits are. If he couldn’t physically protect another person, he doesn’t engage. He is very observant and protective, especially towards Triana.
- Weaknesses: Because of how long he’s been alive, he has lost his purpose in life. He goes from one job to another, hopping from place to place and never staying long enough to get attached. He’s never had a chance to love someone because most of the places he stays are small enough to not be particularly welcoming to openly gay men. He will sit by and watch something bad happen to someone if he thinks it’s too risky to help them, even though most of the time it’s not. He has trouble with trusting people too easily, even though he knows to keep his guard up, which means he may not show a person he trusts them, but he also may overlook something they do that could be dangerous. He is prideful and would never admit he trusts people easily, which is why he moves so much— so he can’t give himself a chance to trust others.

Magic: Taev was born with a natural affinity to dark magic, much like his sister. However, while she only learned the bare minimum, Taev threw himself into studying magic, including the spells that disgusted him, in an effort to impress his family. Taev prefers to fight physically instead of bringing magic into the equation, but he’ll gladly use it if needed. He has also had several students that he has mentored through his life because after his sister went missing and he thought her dead, he threw himself back into magic. He taught students to use dark magic for good purposes, but after a few hundred years of it, he stopped, distancing himself from people and returning to him and his sister’s work of protecting small villages and taking jobs where he could.

History: Their parents hadn’t been expecting twins when they were born, and had been convinced they would have a boy, which is why they had the name Taeviláissonn Ráidon picked out. When they saw there was also a girl, they were delighted, and quickly adapted their ideas to accommodate two children, later going on to have two more, both boys. Taev grew up being respected and adored as a prince, especially during his younger years. Him and Triana were instantly recognizable because of their similar appearances and bright red hair. Their parents loved them, but they tended to use the twins as publicity for the kingdom, although Triana never seemed to notice. It bothered Taev, but the one time he brought it up, he was sharply reminded of his place by his father. That was the last time he brought it up. He was in studies constantly along with Triana, but after Taev’s confrontation with their father, which took place when he was nine, they were separated in their studies. The tutors claimed they were on different levels. Taev took this to mean Triana was ahead of him in everything. He felt ashamed, and threw himself into studies, especially magic, with twice the effort, unaware that Triana wasn’t putting the same effort into it. Him and his sister were allowed to hang out outside of studies, but studies took up a huge part of the day, forcing them to be apart. The only thing they were allowed to be together on was physical weaponry training, which was by far Taev’s favorite part of the day.

After two years of separated studies, Taev gathered up the courage to approach his father about the topic. His father gave a long bullshit talk about being a king and needing to do what was best for one’s people. He talked about how he had needed the twins to grow into their own people, not rely so heavily on one another when deciding on their next moves, since only one head could wear the crown. He said if he hadn’t separated them, they never would’ve pushed themselves in hopes of “catching up” with the other in their studies. At the time, Taev bought the speech, and though later he was furious about it, after several hundred years Taev came to realize what his father had told him was true, and that his parents truly had loved him.

After his conversation with his father, him and Triana were put in studies together again. It all changed on their thirteenth birthday though. The day had been going splendidly. The commoners of the kingdom didn’t really celebrate birthdays, per say, but birthdays were acknowledged for people of younger ages, especially royalty. Taev and Triana had been given the full day off. A parade was held in the morning through the streets of the main city, and Taev and Triana got to ride around on a carriage. It had been a fantastic morning, and while on the carriage, Triana had confessed that she was waiting to get back to the palace, because one of her friends had made her a surprise for her, and she was looking forward to a quiet celebration. Apparently, in her friend’s native lands, making something out of everyday objects, such as buttons, bent metal, or pieces of string, and gifting it to a person on the day of their birth was considered good luck, and supposedly protected the person throughout the coming year. The previous year, Triana had been gifted a small necklace with buttons hanging from it, and though it had been far from the beauty their money could’ve bought, it had become her favorite necklace that year, though she usually wore it under her clothes. She was excited to see what her friend gave her that year. She had invited Taev to come, and he had happily agreed. However, upon arriving back home, he had been caught by some distant relative in conversation, and as a result, he hadn’t been with Triana when the attack began. He had rushed out of the palace as fast as he could, running through the small patch of woods to the stables. He knew, if she made it out, she would meet him there.

From there, they left the kingdom and went from small town to small town, avoiding as much attention as possible. Their legacy had fallen, another family had taken the throne, and they were wanted throughout the kingdom. Although they were out of the kingdom, they were still hunted, and they learned to use their training from the palace to defend themselves and protect each other. When Triana “died”, Taev was devastated. He threw himself back into magic and took on pupils, sometimes several at a time. After a few centuries, he realized the efforts were pointless, and he fell off the grid again, as a faceless killer for hire who occasionally could be persuaded to protect a village or person. He always needs to know why he has been hired to kill someone, and if he doesn’t think they deserve to die, he will help stage their death so others are not sent after them.

He never looked back— until he felt the pull. It dragged him halfway across the desert, sometimes attracting him to the point it was painful to sleep at night because of the constant tug. He finally found the tomb, sleep-deprived and half-starved, to find: his sister. And everything in his world was flipped upside-down.

Up For Love: Taev is gay, but tends to avoid romance and sex. He’ll appreciate a good-looking guy, but most of the time he views acting on it as too risky. If he found the right person though, he might consider it. He is not open about his sexuality, but he won’t deny it either if asked. He’d probably deflect instead of answering.

Other: He will let his sister, Triana, call him Taev, but only her. When he lived in the palace, he was known as Taev to everyone, including citizens. When they were forced to flee, he started going by Ráidon in an attempt to draw less attention to them. If he did end up with someone else romantically, he might consider allowing them to call him Taev. Taev is also the only person who knows about Triana’s other personality, Maraya. He would never tell a soul. Fun fact that could possibly come up in the story, though it is unlikely: Taeviláissonn Ráidon is an anagram for the Greek of “king of fairies”.
