Return to Eternal

Creator: PrincessInk
Roleplay: Eternal
Nickname: Luca

Current Alias: Luca Ricci

Godly Name: Janus

Magic: He doesn't have any “superhero powers” like showering lightning bolts, but as a god of time, he can see in the past and the future, in vague flashes/flashbacks. He's also known as a god of beginnings and often shows up in places where pivotal events are about to happen. He doesn't really consider his abilities as a gift, though.

Gender: Male

Appearance: Janus is slight, and short. Though his face looks like someone in his late twenties, his brown hair is very thin at the top of his head, because of premature balding. He likes to dress neatly, from his suits with crisp edges to his polished shoes. His eyes are gray. He looks unremarkable and can pass for any typical office worker.

Personality: Janus is very patient and rarely gets angry—these days, at least. He prefers to be a bystander rather than in the thick of things, especially after one mortal lifetime spent ruling the Latiums.

Janus was a hot-tempered young man, but from his long life, he has learned not to allow his emotions to control him, to be cautious and watchful, and to be quiet and compliant so as not to draw attention to himself. People may think he is very cold-blooded and calculating, but he likes to think of himself as someone who has successfully ingrained the maxim “Look before you leap” into his personality.

He's quite amiable; he can get along with people well. He's good at talking to friendly acquaintances, but he avoids making close friends because he's aware that mortals die anyway. He gets lonely because of his awareness of his immortality. If you asked him whether he would choose to live forever or not, he would choose the latter.

Up for Romance: Yup! He's straight.

Backstory: Janus was one of the oldest kings of the Latium peninsula, even before Romulus and Remus created Rome, so he might older than the rest of the Roman gods (though age is unimportant to them because they live eternally). After ruling for longer than a lifetime, without his appearance changing much, the people began to view him as a god.

Janus himself began to wonder what extended his life so much. Growing weary of the demands of ruling and the expectations of being a godly king, he named an heir, and a year later, faked his death and left. Ever since, he has been wandering around the world, always arriving—seemingly coincidentally—at a place where a momentous event is about to happen.

Currently, he works as a journalist who travels from place to place to report on happenings throughout the world. He's very happy with his job—he feels like it gives his life purpose.

Other: He's a formidable chess player and also loves good food and trying out new restaurants.

Remember when dad's shoulders were the highest place on earth and your mom was your hero? Race issues were about who ran the fastest, war was only a car game. The most pain you felt was when you skinned your knees, and good byes only meant tomorrow? And we couldn't wait to grow up.
