John Danielsson

Return to Eternal

Creator: niteowl
Roleplay: Eternal
Nickname: John, Jack

Current Alias:John Danielsson or Jack Daniels
Godly Name:Bacchus/Liber (ancient Roman god that was co-opted into Bacchus's mythology)
Magic:Can elevate people's mood, lower inhibitions, and loosen their tongues so they can speak freely

Can also make magic chalices. He can serve you any liquid in any cup and it will transform into whatever beverage you desire at that moment (note: does not have to be alcoholic) and the appropriate glass/cup for that beverage. The glass will remain at least half full as long as you within 100 feet of him. After dealing with some mortals who got a little too drunk, he figured out how to make it “cut you off” by switching to a non-alcoholic drink, though the drinker will not notice a difference.

Can also see the dead, though only those who were close to him. He also may not realize they are dead.

Gender: Male, he/him

Appearance: Tall, handsome, tan, dark hair, appears to be in late 20's. As Jack, he will dress younger and try to look like the early 20-somethings he parties with. As John, he will dress in suits and sometimes use gray hair dye to make himself look older and get taken seriously.

Personality: He has two different personas that he can move between, depending on his mood or what makes more sense for the time period. Jack Daniels, currently a DJ who travels world wide, is a charming nomad who loves nothing more than a good party (except maybe a quick lay from the nearest good-looking young mortal). He uses his magic to get people to loosen up and feel better, if only for a little while.

John Danielsson, a well-known vineyard owner in Napa Valley, is the persona he retreats into when he's tired of Jack's hedonist ways. John is more concerned with culture, fine wine, and fighting for freedom. He is still social and charming, but outwardly more sophisticated. He uses his power to get people to express themselves and rebel against whatever might be holding them back (be it a bad job, a bad relationship, or a bad government).

Both personas have some commonalities, namely a penchant for alcohol (Jack will drink almost anything to get drunk, while John is more discerning) and an inability to get close to people on more than a superficial level (though they get along with everyone).

Up for Romance: Yes, bisexual

Backstory: He sprung to life in the middle of a Bacchanalia and ended up in a triad with two of the participants, Caius and Salvia. When a plague struck Rome, all three grew ill and Salvia died. Caius recovered, but he and John (then known as Maximus) had a falling out and Caius left one night, never to return. After binge drinking in amounts that would have killed a normal human, Maximus realized that he was immortal. After the grief and abandonment from this first relationship, he swore never to get too close to mortals again.

After the fall of Rome, he wandered around feeling out of place in a more inhibited Europe. The Renaissance lightened his spirits, but he never really knew his true calling outside of partying until he came to America in the 1760's and fought in the American Revolution. This is when he realized that his powers could influence people to be free on a more than superficial level.

Other: He will probably be in "Jack" mode when he receives the letter, but the prospect of meeting other immortals will make him more subdued and John-like.

In certain settings, he might describe himself as a widower. That he was never technically married and she died over 2000 years ago are minor details.
