Arryn Kinevart

Return to Of Blood & Royalty

Creator: ScarlettFire
Roleplay: Of Blood & Royalty
Nickname: Arryn

Name: Arryn Kinevart.

Age: 19.

Gender: Male.

Rank: Mage (Blood).

Appearance: Arryn stands at about 5'4", fairly short for his age, and is of below average size, mostly due to malnutrition. Growing up in a whore house has left him smaller than the average young man, and Arryn hates it. He prefers to wear clothing that covers most of his pale, scarred skin, his dirty blonde hair and his hazel eyes. Arryn doesn't like to stand out, so he slinks about as much as possible and tries to blend in with the background.

Personality: Arryn is a suspicious, jumpy young man with more mental scars then you can shake a branch at, but he's not all scared little mouse. He's sneaky and a bit of a thief, but he's an honest one. A bit of a flaw, really. If he's caught, he'll cave to the threats or demands. Not that he'd get caught often. Not while using his weaker ability, anyway. He's passionate about magic, just not exactly the blood part, and about art. An odd thing, really, for a mage (not that he's been doing anything artsy lately). He really, really hates the blood thing. He feels it's a disgusting twist of magical law; unnatural. But he has no idea how to go about fixing it, if it can even be fixed.

He is also stubborn as all hell and unwilling to compromise, but he'll do as he's ordered. Within reason. Not that he'll always follow them, either. Sometimes Arryn likes to do his own thing--and that can work, but not always. Sometimes straying from the path causes more harm than good. And that makes him sad, and angry. Though he tired not to let the anger rule him; it only feeds a blood mage's insanity. As for other forms of magic, the one's he can do, at least... Well. He adores his illusions, and usually pulls them out for the local slum kids; they love the light shows. But he has to be careful. If he's caught, he'll be killed on sight--or worse, sent to Irondark. And no one comes back from there.

He's never been a particularly stable person, but he managed. Until he took out the king and queen. He had no idea that when a blood mage harms royalty, when they take power from their pain and their blood, that they'd be sent down a dark, lonely path to insanity. Arryn tries many things to slow the descent; cheering up the local kids in the slums with his illusions (something he loves to do), stopping to smell the flowers (literally. he loves nature), buying spices from the markets (he's got a soft spot for 'em), buying clothes (he's got a weakness for pretty things; he sometimes buys beautiful dresses for the women back at the brothel he was raised in. they're like family to him). But not everything is working. He's afriad of himself, and what he can do.

Flaws: Arryn is stubborn and unwilling to compromise. Caves easily to threats. Honest thief; willing to give up stolen items easier than talk his way out of anything. Doesn't always follow orders to the letter. A little too angry for his own good. And most glaringly, his growing insanity; it makes him jumpy and suspicious, and is impairing his judgement.

Abilities: Strong; Blood manipulation. He can draw power from blood, can boil it in your veins, but he tries very hard not to do any of it. He's still young, so he's not entirely sure what, exactly, the limits are. Weak; illusion magic. He can make himself look like someone else or disappear completely, but only for a few minutes at a time, and it takes hours for him to be able to do either abilities one he's used them.

History: Born in the slums of Yaska to a young whore, Arryn never knew his father. In fact, he spent years trying to find him. As a youngster, he would roam about the city, mostly in the slums and the marketplace. He stole to survive, practiced his magic in secret when he could, usually outside the city walls and in the foothills of the mountains to the east.

For the last few years, he's gotten in with The Guild, a group of mages, assassins and thieves who are hell-bent on toppling the status quo. The Guild have seen the slavery and suffering of the mages, other magic-using and lower class groups. Their goal seemed to fall in line with Arryn's wishes, and so he joined.

It wasn't until someone asked him to make an attempt on the King and Queen's life that he realised it wasn't the same path he'd wanted to take. They hadn't expected him to succeed, and now he's terrified. Of himself, of The Guild and especially of the Royal Guards, the soldiers walking the streets looking for the assassin. Arryn took to hiding out in a tavern near the Western Gate and hoping his increased paranoia wasn't showing.

Up for love: Yes. Gender doesn't bother him.

Other: Arryn has a secret; He's the blood mage who killed the king and queen.

You may deem me romantic, my dear sister, but I bitterly feel the want of a friend.
