About writeholic

Well Obviously I love writing~probably more then anything in my life... I first started writing when I was 7 years old, mostly just fantasy and continued to write fiction until I was in the eighth grade and found out that I absolutely loved to write poetry. I entered the "reflections" contest and won first place. Since then I received a first and second place award at a BYU College poetry competition, and have received publication in an anthology, and a minor literary magazine. I've never read a lot of poetry, except in school, and didn't think that I was any good at it, until my English teacher told me that I was quite good, and should concentrate more on it. I've done so, and have begun to look more at poetry, and as a result I've been able to separate my own writing style from that of other poets, and as a direct result from becoming a quite "raw" and metaphorical poet its directly affected my fiction writing and I've finally found my own unique style through poetry. Lately I've been concentrating more upon fiction then poetry and if all goes well I hope to be published within a year.
