what is poetry if not an inner conflict

Spoiler! :

one day i will leave this place behind, and all that will remain of me is poetry. my friends will no longer be my friends. instead, they will be people whose lives have intersected with mine at one point in time. it’s nothing in the scheme of things, but i will think about you nonetheless.

they will remember me not by me, but rather that we wrote together. i never knew you personally, but i will think fondly of you for years to come. if we knew each other in person, we could’ve been good friends. you have seen parts of me i never want to see again. you have seen the words that spill out from my cracks like the water held back by a dam. not a lot of people can say that. not a lot of people care.

we wrote together. isn’t that beautiful? will you remember me and smile? or will i just become another skeleton in your closet, the nagging memory of someone you almost knew?
