Atlas, a disenfranchised wolfboy, is seeking cities and crowds, to purify him and legitimize him and wash this wolf out of his belly. There is something about them, a draw to them, that makes him feel crazy and electric and alive. He takes it upon himself one morning to run away and find a better life in one, whichever one would have him.
He didn’t intend to end up in Rome County, Montana. He didn’t intend to meet Perl. He didn’t intend for anything to happen the way it did.
