“Saving lives is my job. You’re lucky I would sacrifice myself for you.”

Nahi huffed and lowered their sweater. “Happy?”

“How likely is your death?”

Nahi squeaked. “I might die if you do.”

Nahi hesitantly poked their eyes out. “Please don’t.”

Nahi squealed again. “Going to hide now. Forever.”

Nahi’s face felt like it was about to explode. Before they could convince themselves it was a bad idea, they reared up and kissed her on the cheek before sinking ...
