Ky perked up, grateful Anneliese wouldn’t think her terrible for saying it. She nodded. “Very… and quiet.”

“Good,” she lied. “But better to be home.”

Ky sat down next to her and looped her arm through her elbow. “I missed you.”

“I really have.” Ky nodded, pulling away. “What all did I miss?”

“Not long ago,” she assured her. “I saw Mother and the kids and she said you were out here so I came out.”

Ky beamed and hugged her tightly. “How are you?”

Ky crept up behind her and then threw her arms around her in a hug from behind. “Surprise!”
