”…Oh,” she squeaked timidly. This was so overwhelming. She wanted to wake up.

She obediently scrambled to her feet, heart racing. She sent a hesitant glance towards him. “S-so this is real, sir? I-I’m not just dreaming?”

“Good to see you, Reverend.” He shook his hand firmly. Best to be polite; this was his host, after all. “Uther!” Sadie bent down and patted him eagerly. “Good boy!”

She stared at him with wide eyes and a gaping mouth for a long moment, stuck. Then she recovered enough of her wits to squeak in fear and gracelessly drop ...

“For sure!” Meyer grinned. “I’ve already heard Uther’s praises; I’m excited to meet him.” They both approached the door and Meyer held out a hand. “Meyer Lovett.”

Fear stabbed through her and she looked at him in alarm. “Who are you?”

Sadie smiled and gave a little wave. “Hello!”

Ky considered that for a long moment. “…Why do you have chains?” She didn’t have any idea who he was.

She was quiet for a moment. “…I’m scared.”

Ky tensed, fear stabbing through her. "... Why me?"
