She forced a little smile. “Have a good evening.”

“Okay. Thank you.” She nodded to him. “I appreciate it.”

“Oh.” She nodded. “Okay. Thank you… anything special about the fire?”

“Okay.” She nodded. “So light the fire, put ash and blood on the bone, then audibly say the prayer? Or a different order? Or does it matter?”

She felt sick. “I still have to kill something? Even with the bone?” She glanced down at her bandaged hand. “Can I just use my own blood?”

“Yes:” She nodded.

“…asking for… favors?” She awkwardly held up her bone. “I’ve got it written out but I don’t know how to get it to him.”
