About PurpleMoment

My name is Ashley. I love meeting new people! I am considered short by many(5'3''), however I continue to tell everyone that I'm not short, but rather I'm FUN SIZE! I like to be spontaneous and unpredictable, sometimes a little crazy. I don't like shoes or socks and would rather go barefoot. I sing really loud all the time. I hate running...I would much rather walk. I like flowers and sweet-smelling air-fresheners. I love to laugh and sometimes tend to laugh just for the sake of laughing. I love sunsets but love sunrises even better. I can't cook if my life depended on it. My favorite color is purple and I am a morning person. Generally, I am told that I'm random, fun, and entertaining. I enjoy making people smile. I'm deaf. I speak American English, American Sign Language, and written German.

My plan is to use my degree to work for a non-profit organization. I would like to advocate for people with disabilities, specifically those who are D/deaf or hard of hearing. I would like to support, speak, and act on the behalf of D/deaf or hard of hearing individuals and assist them in obtaining any information, services, and resources they may need, as well as educate and inform the general public about people with disabilities.

My major is Communication with a double minor in both Public Relations and Organizational Communication. I have a double minor in Psychology and Human Development. And I'm going to grad school for Social Work.

"The bird that would soar above the level plain of tradition and prejudice must have strong wings. It is a sad spectacle to see the weaklings bruised, exhausted, fluttering back to earth."
— Kate Chopin, The Awakening
