so where to start… let’s start start with the one sad thing: me and my girlfriend broke ups several months ago I’m not interested in going into detail, but suffice it to say we probably won’t be seeing eachother again.
With that out of the way, I got back into one piece, started and finished ‘in search of lost time’ by Marcel Proust, began watching doctor who with my brother after we watched Attack on Titan, as much that’s out, anyway (he introduced me to both), and we’re still working through ‘The wheel of time’ and me and my brothers are playing Minecraft dungeons together. And now my family and I are heading to Maine (I’m actually typing this in the car in the second day of the trip.
Family stuff out of the way, now to me! What. A. Year. I’m heading to my final year of high school, I won a regional gold scholastic key for poetry and an honorable mention for my Sci-Fi fantasy short story. I tied first place in both fiction and poetry in a school writing contest. I got accepted to two writer’s workshop’s, but I only went to one, which is fine because I applied, was accepted, and went to the Iowa Young Writer’s Studio. This was easily one of the best experiences in my life. Iowa city is surprisingly pleasant, if slightly hot. I bought twenty-odd books and made several friends, all of whom I’m either in contact with or have at least made an effort to stay in contact with. As someone who rarely has large friend groups, much less friend groups of writers, this is makes me very happy. Additionally, I’m learning to drive! I’m also working on two short stories, and hoping to start my novel once school starts.
So that’s about it. I don’t know if I’ll become more active on this site. There are definitely things I want to share, but I have to find time to write reviews. Here’s to hoping I’m not irreparably rusty.
