I have just performed a vital economic calculation.
Approximate numbers:
Average cost of a can of cat food: $1
Average cans of cat food a cat eats per day: 1.5
Number of cats on the planet: ~600 million
Typical U.S. National Budget: $3.5 trillion

If America devotes its entire budget to cat food, we could feed every cat in the world for about ten and a half years.

Okay, so on weekends I ride my bike past this empty farmland out in the country a bit. Recently I noticed a dusty path leading away to a dilapidated shack, and beyond it, an abandoned hill from a construction site. The road is crisscrossed with shoeprints and bike tracks leading into the distance (and back again).

I haven't worked up the courage to explore any further, and I'm not even sure if it's a good idea, but I can't help thinking...this is the stuff that adventures are made of.
