  • 10 YEARS AT YWS β€” wow.

I'm not sure how special this is, considering I've been mia for a long while, but still it's a decade of my still being here. When does that ever happen?

I remember signing up when the site still looked a bit like any other writing forum. I wasn't really active. I only shared dumb stories (i was 15), hoping to get praise for them lmao. I didn't know anybody. I didn't chat or communicated with anybody. But I remember users like @murtuza and @Skins and @PenguinAttack, @Noelle and @GeeLyria and @ScarlettFire among many others

I became really active in this "community" back around 2013. @Holysocks was still a child then living in the canadian wilderness lol. I was just as impressed with @Arcticus's poetry as I am now (he was autumns then, and before that, his real name.) He used to rap, now he's a pir. Though a very beautiful pir. i'd gladly be his murid

I imagine my happiest and active years here being around '15-'16. A writing project I had here where I vilified my family in portions of memoirs is something i'm proud of. I'm still using material off of that for the novel I've almost finished!

@Willard and @Gringoamericano were my indie-music buddies. We listened to some crazy, obscure shit lol. I still do, though not as religiously as before. Willard's poetry is something I genuinely miss reading on the regular too. He's such a talented person. I hope he gets famous some day as some middle-america, dirty realist poet.

@Lava, @Dreamy, @manisha, @Deanie, I never had a lot of meaningful talk with but they seemed close to me regardless. @veeren, too, with whom i seem to have so much in common yet no conversation to go back on. There's also @Sonder, @Tuesday, and @soundofmind, who also writes some beautiful poetry. I remember being incredibly impressed with @Pompadour's poetry and equally horrified of her taste in pop music.

Over the course of these ten years, it seems like i've flirted more on this site than wrote lol. I should apologize for my constant lecherousness, for all the taunting and teasing that I often did. I'm thankful to YWS for dealing with all my teenage phases and still never judging.

@Apricity (is that still her name?) and I had some memorable talks on literature, Prokaryote and I had some very weird and interesting conversations.

I hope @passenger and @Sevro accomplish all they set out for. They were my favorite sisters on this site.

Age is catching up on yall. We used to be kids. Now some of us are directing movies and some have been blessed with motherhood.

Lastly, @Dutiful, thank you for all the comfort. You were the best friend and companion a kid could ask for. We had some great times!

YWS will perhaps be the only online community I'd ever be a part of. I would've stopped coming over to the internet, if only it was possible anymore in this world. I was never one to make friends online but the sheer talent and friendliness and comfort that this site has provided cannot be measured. I love you all. to quote my favorite song of all time: Home, is where I want to be. But I guess I'm already there.

Arcticus Really glad to have you back on the site again, even if it's only for a while!
