For the first time in my entire life, I opened my ears to listen to what the teacher was blabbing about, something to do with irony. It was the only way to distract myself from everyone who didn't give a damn. My strategy seemed to be effective up until the bell rang, signaling the end of English class. All the students scrambled out of their desks while I slammed my head down on mine. I heard approaching footsteps and gasped as my chair was forced back.
The culprit was obviously Dylan. "What was that all about?" he asked. "The hottest girl in school is making note of your existence, and you turn your head like a fucking retard. What is Charlotte Benker going to think about you ignoring her?"
Jump into bed with the first jock she sees, I nearly blurt our but hold back. "She'll probably just think I'm a little shy."
Dylan's shoulder brushed mine as we exited the classroom and prepared to move separate ways. "If you're shy around Charlotte, she's going to find someone else," he said with a smirk. He firmly patted my shoulder and added, "think about that," before diverting.
I shoved my hand into my face and heaved an enormous sigh. Now I've created disappointment for the rest of the day.
Despite the crappiness of my day, returning home sounded dreadful. Mom picks up the twins, Lucas, and Joseph, and still manages to arrive home before me. My father, who I usually forbid to talk about, goes out drinking with his buddies most nights, against his wife's wishes. He then always shows up around 9:00 wasted out of his mind, leading Mom to say a decade of the rosary each night before bed. So, basically, I spend all day in a prison, and then spend my afternoon in an insane asylum.
Tyler and I marched through the door to the 3:00 routine of Mom arguing with Lucas about something of no importance, of River and Patrick fighting about their stupid video games, and of Joseph attempting to retrieve some attention in spite of all this madness. Tyler just rolled his eyes and immediately jumped onto the internet. I, however, took refuge in my haven, my safe place, my bedroom. Sure, I share it with Tyler, but his usual absence gives me a serene place to regroup alone. It is the place I retreat in order to forget how much my life sucks and think about how tomorrow could possibly improve.
I grabbed my laptop, plopped on my bed, and sighed. The laptop was the gift my parents settled on surprising me with for my sixteenth birthday. They refused to give me a car due to the fact that they cannot pay for a car as well as five other kids. So, the decided on a laptop. But I guess it works because it gives me more independence. I opened up the internet and logged onto my facebook page. Within thirty seconds, I had received a chat message from Dylan. Why didn't you wait for me today? it said.
I glared at Dylan's message in disgust. Why does he care so much that I did not wait for him one day. Putting this into words typed onto the screen, I anticipated a bullshit reply from my friend. Sure enough, ten seconds later he wrote, Because I want you!
Obviously he didn't mean it, but it caused me to slip off the edge of my chair, reaching out for my desk to save at least an ounce of my dignity. Dylan was constantly making jokes about how the two of us are so good looking, we only deserve each other. Usually, the jokes make me laugh, but this time I felt my face turning red with embarrassment. Suddenly, these jokes were not funny anymore. Suddenly, I was pissed off. Go fuck yourself, I typed back to Dylan.
Despite my seriousness, Dylan interpreted my command as a foolery of one teenage boy to his best friend. His message said, Nah! Emily's coming over tonight, and I am going to be getting plenty!
I slammed down the top of my laptop and huffed as I tore the cord out of the wall. That jerk was always boasting about sex every other day, and I am just some sixteen-year-old virgin looking for a way to fit in. I figured I did not want any further accusations from Dylan; therefore, I plugged my laptop back in and waited for it to boot up.
On facebook, I noticed that chat message from Dylan saying, Jealous much? Unlike usual, it did not bother me because another message had popped up on my screen. It read, Hey! I was thinking about you today. I had to read and reread the name of the sender, and even then I did not believe it. I had just received a message from Charlotte Benker.
Out of nervousness, I ignored Charlotte and went right to Dylan. Is is possible for the worst day ever to become the best day ever in a matter of fifteen seconds? I typed.
It could. What happened?
I just got a message from Charlotte that said she was thinking of me.
Well, what did you say back?
Nothing yet.
What the hell, Jamison? Forget me! Talk to her!
I took a deep breath and shifted my eyes back to Charlotte's message. My fingers reluctantly pressed against the keyboard as I typed back the most clever, yet not ridiculous, reply I could think of. Good things I hope!
She typed a smiley face emoticon before the rest of her message. Of course. I want us to hang out sometime.
My hand flew to my stomach in disbelief. It felt as if I had just grew in my pants a few inches. The Charlotte Benker has a desire to go out with me, Jamison Shephard.
Stay tuned for the next chapter, 10/12/10

Part two!
Well, just like before, this was amazing! I loved it, and, plus, I only saw three minor mistakes:
