Hey, I'm new!

Hey, I've been recommended to join this site by some friends and I thought I'd say a few things about myself!
Just call me Marla, I'm a huge fan of Fight Club.

I really wanted to join the site because I just started going to college. I'm taking a Writing for the Media class, and as much as I'd like to think I'm the God of all trades when it comes to my writing, I know I'm not the greatest and it would be really nice to have some insight on some of my assignments.

I'm taking a Broadcasting course at my school for Media and Design, and I'm a huge movie fan. I don't read very much but it is something that I would like to start doing more, but it's hard to fit it in my schedule.

I was greatly into the Harry Potter series as a child, but who wasn't, right? I am a big fan of Anne Rice though, I've read The Interview with the Vampire, and The Vampire Lestat. I would love to finish the entire series of The Vampire Chronicles, but it's something that I know will take me some time.

As a member of this site, I would actually like to start writing some poetry. I've always like reading and writing poetry, but it's something I haven't done for a very long time so I think it would be nice to start writing again.

I guess that's it, but I would love to make some friends and read what you're all writing too!

In any case, if poetry is your thing, there are lots of forums about that as well as lots of different styles depending on your taste.

I'm Pink, and as the green text goes, a junior moderator of the site.

I'm glad you decided to join us in hopes of enriching your writing and reading skills, etc. I believe YWS will accomplish that for you and we'll all be here to help. I've been a member for about three years now and can only marvel on how much my writing skills and personality has changed since joining this site - I hope the same goes for you.

So, you want to give poetry a shot, huh? Go for it! YWS is home to many amazing poets and reviewers and I'm sure the poetry crew would love fresh meat - I mean thoughts.
I tried poetry once...I'll stick to fiction, lulz.

Anyway, we only have a few simple rules to the site. Basically, no chatspeak or slang but simple overused expressions like "omg" and "lol" are totally allowed. We're all writers so we write like them! Meaning, we do our best to provide grammatically correct sentences and look over our post before we submit. ^^ And all in all, just keep it family friendly in the forums and you'll be rocking out in no time.

If you ever run into any questions then just give us green guys a holler and we'll be happy to answer any questions. You can also contact the red guys, they're the admins but because they're usually busy keeping the site from crashing down and fighting off bad guys, they'll be slow in replying to their messages. ^^

Thanks! I really don't like using slang words like "lol, omg, etc" anyway so I guess we won't have any problems there. I know that if I want people to take my writing seriously, there's no way I'm going to be using that kind of dialogue.
