Spoiler
I just realised the lack of poetry on YWS today. I was using the "Shuffle" button up there to get something new and unreviewed, or something gone unnoticed. I was hoping for some poems though I kept getting stories and stories and stories. I've been clicking that "Shuffle" button for almost an hour now, and I got only, what, 2 poems? Now I feel like 35% of all the poetry here are mine (which probably suck.) Where are all the poems?! D':

So I decided to write a poem about the joy of writing a poem and the complications you come across writing one. Feel free to rip it into a million pieces, but all I really want to do now is just get the word across. POEMS ARE NOT FOR OLD PEOPLE ONLY! THEY ARE AWESOME! Thank you.

Poems are for losers,
that's what you say.
Poems are for all of us,
that's what I say.

Poems of love,
sappy nonsense you say.
Poems of love,
Romantic silly people I say!

But you don't get it!
The majority of you.
A hundred pages aren't needed,
to tell one's a flirt.

Poems are meant,
to say the forbidden.
To make you smile,
or make you cry.

Poems mean,
something to all of us.
Whether you can say it on the face or not,
A poem can say it all.

To send a "I love you",
Or hate mail to Mr.Bush.
Courage is what you lack,
Write a poem, non is needed in that!

Whether you like it or not,
I know what you thought,
And mission mine is,
to change it.

Limited words
and rhyming words!
"Aie Aie Aie",
you go.

A huge story,
in just a few words.
"Say what?!",
you snort.

But ain't the smile and the joy,
the tiny tear or the loud sob,
sometimes,
makes you feel worth it?

It shows the effort put,
to let the meaning unfold.
It shows to love you have,
to take the trouble once more.

Spoiler
THE END! ^^
I know the fifth paragraph, fourth line - very big, but I couldn't make it any shorter. Can you? (:
Also, since they were so many paragraphs I wanted to put, I finally decided to make another one. Under a different name of course, but yeah.

Thank you for reading it till the end. (:

*EDIT: Apparently there are a lot of poems of YWS. Though they just seem to hate me. So take this as.. ah.. "encourage writing poems." or something. I would have cut of the entire spoiler above, but I don't want to make the first two reviewers seem weird.

If I were to have a super power, it would be to time-travel, so that I could turn back time, and erase your very existence.

One comment. I would say poetry is more popular here than any other form of writing. I often gripe about the lack of decent fiction. And here I am still reading poetry. It's a good poem by the way.

I think the reason that you were eding up with far more novels and short stories isn't to do with the lack of poetry on this site, it's because poems are often reviewed more than stories. This is probably due to the fact that they are shorter, and therefore quicker to get though... especially if you have little time! I'd like to think that there's an equal amount of poetry and other literature - if anything you should be glad that poems are reviewed more quickly!

I liked this, mainly because a lot of people seem (to me) to think that writing poetry "isn't cool" and it TOTALLY is!!! The meaning behind it was really clear. One thing I didn't like, though, was how you sometimes had lines ending with the same words, and then sometimes it seemed to rhyme, and sometimes it didn't, and that kind of thing just bugs me.
To send a "I love you",
Or hate mail to Mr.Bush.
Courage is what you lack,
Write a poem, non is needed in that!

Also, this stanza is kind of confusing, just in the grammatical way. "To send AN 'I love you'", Or hate mail to Mr. Bush. Then the last line, "Write a poem, non is needed in that!"...the "non" just confused me. I'm not sure what word that's supposed to be.
So, anyway, overall, great job on this, and please keep cranking out more poetry! The world could always use more of it! :)
