To all expirienced writers,
My name is Katie Buttaro. I have been writing since I could spell, and I am currently 12 years old. I don't know if any of you have before heard of them, but one day, not long ago, I was watching the newest Vlogbrothers video on Youtube. John Green said, and I quote, "Find someone who's doing something that you want to do, better than you can do it, and listen to them." My goal in life is to become a published author before the age of 14. Remember, that's only two years away for me. I am currently writing a non-fiction book, in which contains main characters Alaska (A wolf) and Keiran (A human). I need someone who can do what I love to do, better than me. An expirienced writer in which might be interested in helping me along. I need a teacher. If you think that you are the one that may be able to help me gather ideas for my book, possibly become my editor, or give me tips and ideas for my writing in general, please either pm me here or respond to this topic. To contact me much more imidiately, please email me at moonshadow1199@gmail.com Thank you! -Guider

Well, first of all, Welcome to YWS! *confetti*
It sounds to me like you're looking for a mentor. You can get one from The Buddy System. There are a bunch of us in search of new mentees right now, so it shouldn't take long before you find one. All of our profiles are in the link I gave you, and you can see which of us would be best suited for you. :D

Wow. Two years, huh? Well, I hope you reach your goal. I used to think like you; I wanted to get published by the age of thirteen, and then I realized that the quality of the work was more important than the age of the author. Your characters deserve to be well cared-for, so try not to rush through it for the wrong reasons. :) But if that's really your goal, go for it.

So...back to the site. :) We have a wonderful community of writers here who just want to help you be better. We're very friendly and encouraging (a bit insane, but we couldn't call ourselves writers if we weren't, right? ;) ) I hope you enjoy yourself her and find everything you seek.
Happy writing,

Acctually,
I did already ask for a mentor on "The buddy system" recently today. Since you seem to know quite a bit about this club, would you mind telling me if it's strictly for help around the site, or if your mentor would typically be someone to help with your writing skills in addition?
Also, thanks for the advice. I know that it means alot to get done in limited time, but I im in no hurry. I have been taking it slow, editing as I go, then editing chapter for chapter, and of course being certain that every bit and peice is written with enthusiasim and is as interesting as can be. To tell the truth, I do believe I've been taking my time slightly too much. Now that school is starting up again though, I believe I will be more in the mood for getting things done.
Thanks again, -Guider

Absolutely! Your mentor will review most, if not all, of your work, answer all of your questions, and give you general tips about the site. I would be happy to mentor you, if you'd like. :)
Well, if you're concerned about your progress, sometimes it's good to just write and get all of your general ideas down, then go back and edit. You have to find what works best for you. :D Good luck, and welcome again!

Thank you!

That sounds great! I'll be looking around for a mentor. I just want to see who's out there and I'll get back to you. Hopefully you understand.
Best wishes! -Guider

Hey, Guider! Welcome to YWS! I'm not that old in YWS years myself, but I know if you want to find a like-minded individual, here's the place. There are lots of different writers and lots of different styles, with a streak of crazy throughout. But that's cool, right? And we all want to help each other get better at what we do. I hope you find a teacher. And I hope you get published. But don't forget to have fun along the way!

Write on and God bless.
