Summer's gift

The warm summer's afternoon was coming to an end.
As she lay in long, lazy grass, she felt calm, breathing in it's sweet and dry scent.
Her head rested gently on his lap, allowing him to twist his long fingers through her thick, blonde hair.
She looked into his eyes and smiled; it was a smile brought about by the love for him that now filled her entire being.
His hazel green eyes appeared to her like a deep pool, as if they were filled with memories of the season.
When she gazed into them, she reminisced back to when they first met.
She thought about how he had held her the first time, how it made her feel so safe and secure.
She remembered the day that they swam together in the tiny dam underneath the giant oak tree, sheltering them from the heat and how they only got out after the first star glowed in the evening sky.
The memory of the first time she lost herself in the sweetness of his lips, left a tear falling off of her rosy cheek.
Summer, as kind and generous as it had been to them both, was now coming to an end,
Inhibiting the existence of their precious journey together.
She looked up at beautiful orange and red display of the sunset, praying for a great sum of strength,
Enough to let go of the tender grasp of his hand in hers,
To kiss him once more, with the ability to stop.
She wanted more than ever to continue living in her fairy tale,
And she knew that just as all the princesses lived happily ever after with their princess at the end of the stories,
She too would be with her summer love, kissing his soft lips underneath a new and future sunset.

*Cries* This was beautiful, like a story in, let's just say, 30 seconds. The imagery and the way you described the sunsets, like watching a portable brain t.v, if that makes any sense. Anyway, I enjoyed reading your poem, write more!!!!!

I thought this was a pretty good poem. I liked the imagery, but when describing things like the sunset, it would be more interesting if you used words like "crimson" or "scarlet" instead of red and maybe "gold" and "bronze" instead of orange. Also, you were a little over-descriptive of the characters. It didn't really leave much for us to imagine, as it usually does. But I like the way that you described different memories that the characters had together, although swimming in starlight is a bit cliche. You should reread to fix minor grammatical mistakes, but that's unimportant. Overall, I really enjoyed this poem. If you just kind of edit it a little bit more and maybe have a little bit more word variation, it will be amazing. It has a lot of feeling and love and the potential is high. Keep working on it and it'll be great.

This is a great poem with a wonderful story. The opening really draws the reader in. Love your descriptions. Let me just point out a few things that would make this a billion times better with very few changes.
As she lay in long, lazy grass, she felt calm, breathing in it's sweet and dry scent.

"its," not "it's." I love how you used the word lazy to describe grass. You have very unique ways of describing things.
His hazel green eyes appeared to her like a deep pool, as if they were filled with memories of the season.

I absolutely adore this line. The imagery is so vivid here. Although, I think maybe describing his eyes as both hazel AND green is a little redundant/confusing.
they only got out after the first star glowed in the evening sky.

Way to not say "they left when it got dark." ;) Although I think you could find an alternative word choice besides "got out."
She too would be with her summer love, kissing his soft lips underneath a new and future sunset.

Okay. The "new and future sunset" is a bit irksome to me. The wording is a bit choppy and awkward. A slight rephrasing would be necessary.
Other than what I mentioned above, this was awesome. Keep writing!
