Stop and Stare Cover Design

Here is my entry for Skins' contest. It looked like an interesting challenge so I decided what the heck. I'm not entirely sure if it looks okay. I guess I just need some opinions. These are two versions of the many I have created.



I'm not sure if I like this one as much. It didn't require as much editing.

I don't own any of the pictures used.

I have to say, I like the second one the best. Simplicity is wonderful.

Don't know about the contest but as far as these two photos go, less was more, and I liked the second one better. In the first one it's harder to distinguish the letters from the background, the swing from the shoe, etc. The second one is much more effective and makes the shoe a more powerful image. Then again, I don't know the context of this so take this with a grain of salt.

Hey Masquerade

I'm going to agree with the others and say the second one is the best out of the two. I think it's because the swing (I think that's what it is) in the first one is in conflict with the shoe and so it kind of clutters up the picture and doesn't quite look right compositionally. I think the other reason the second one is better is just becuse it stands out more. The stark contrast of the black and white would stand out to me a lot more on a book shelf than the kind of murky effect of the first one.
