Look at me!
What do you see?
Do you see a hero? A saint?
Or, am I so terrifying that I make grown men faint?
Am I beautiful, like a dove?
Or is it a face that only a mother could love?
Look at me!
What do you notice?
Have you noticed sadness?
Have you only seen happiness?
Does my laugh seem more forced than it used to?
Or is that more observation than you care to do?
Listen,
What do you hear?
You hear nothing,
Why?
It's because you're not listening.
Not really.
It's because you're away,
Far, far away.
Then, to come home with the same excuse day after day.
You lie,
You curse,
You've only made me cry.
You break my hands,
And with that my spirit.
Then, just to go back out in foreign lands.
Listen,
What do you hear?
Silence,
That's what you like to hear.
Look,
What do you see?
You see that my spirit is not broken!
That now, finally, I am free!
Now I shall go away,
Far, far away.
I shall go out into foreign lands.
Where you cannot break me.
Where you cannot hurt me.
Now you see,
Now you hear,
But, it's too late,
Because now, I am free.
Of you're excuses,
And our forgotten love.
There once was a women named Kent,
Whose nose was rather quite bent.
One day I suppose,
She followed her nose,
And nobody knows where she went.

I liked a lot but there was a few spots that i got stuck on...but this part here confused me a little bit more=
You break my hands,
And with that my spirit.
Then, just to go back out in foreign lands.

It was supposed to mean that he abuses her and then just leaves right after he finishes.

Hmmm. I'm finding that there are quite a few poems on here I'm surprisingly liking. Usually poetry to me is, well, bland and boring. However, there were a few parts that didn't make much sense. But then again, aren't there always in every writing? Good job. :D
No one ever said I can't be me... Well except for my eighth-grade class, but hey. No one ever gives a darn about what they say anyway.

I'm rubbish with spelling too so now help there, but I love this poem. It flows really naturally, and it shows a great story! I love how you use slant to put more emphasis on words, and the ending sums it all up nicely. My favourite lines:

Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything's different?
