I have watching this awesome video from bing Videos about a man surfing at night. The video was so breathtaking and inspiring that I have decided to take a snap shot of the guy in the video while he was surfing and I drew it. I was really enjoying doing this task as it was kinda new for me to draw a picture before from a video.

:smt069 Here is the video if you would like to watch it: http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/ ... ideo|msn||
You would definitely know which minute I have paused and drew.

And here is my drawing:

Wow, starlight- this picture is really pretty. It looks kind of magical, almost- but then that's just my general disbelief that he could get that high and stay on, I guess. ^^

I'll just say now, I tried to watch the video for context but it just wouldn't load for me. >.<' it linked to bink.nz instead, for some reason. Not the fault of your link, it's something on my end. x.x

I really like the silhouette of the man, it's clean and clear and simple, although his legs look a little straight and unreal with close observation.

I also like the purple lighting coming down from the moon, I think this is part of the 'magical' feel that the whole picture has, and it breaks up the black of the sky quite well. I am kind of curious why it has such a perfect curve and only on one side, but maybe that's explained in the video.

The wave is the only bit that causes me any real confusion, as it doesn't seem to look or behave like any wave I have ever seen. The 'break' appears to be on a wave that is not moving fast enough to break, it kind of looks like the kind of wave I would jump up in as a kid to get lifted off the ground before being placed back down. XD It just looks too gentle, and maybe there should be less water on the left side of the picture to give it more of a 'breaking' feel? Also, the foam looks kind of odd itself, it kind of looks like flames.

*Edit* After a second good look, I have come to realise we're looking at the back of the wave, in which case it makes more sense. Still, the foam looks a bit unrealistic still, I would imagine it would start curling more?

Overall, this picture is stunning- it has an eerie magical feel to it, which is great. I would be proud of it, if it was my painting. ^^

Sorry if the video is not working properly, I have attached instead the captured photo from the video itself
@Nutty: I think you are quite right, may be I have over-painted the waves part. It was the hardest part in the photo as it needs high accuracy, but I'm quite feeling proud of the final results for it has been my third trial with poster colors. But really thank you for your review, I loved all the points you have mentioned here. About the 'straight looking legs' as you can see in the photo, they look quite straight, which makes me feel that any one who would see my painting without watching the video first that the legs would see it strange-looking.

You should feel proud of yourself! It's an amazing picture. =D

The only thing I have to add, now I've seen the actual picture is- you're quite right on the legs being straight, my bad! I think maybe it's the arm that is throwing it off a little? His arm in the original is a little more tilted than in your picture.

Also, I didn't mention this in the last review, but I absolutely love the moon. ^^
