Okay, so these were two assignments in my art class, but they were both entered, by my teacher, into two separate shows. The first one is pen and ink, which is black on white, and the second one is scratch board, which is white on black. Just a few warnings and/or head-ups:
1. The first one is a play on words, can you figure it out? ;P
2. The face is so messed up on the second one. I know. I was behind and rushing, which was a BAD idea, since you can't erase a scratch board :/
3. The background was... ALSO messed up.... But this one is hopefully fixable. It's supposed to be bushes but again, I rushed, and now it just looks like a bunch of blobs...
But anyway, please enjoy these complete opposites, and tell me what you think/what I can improve on next time!

Thank you! I hope you like them ^.^

Well for my part I would say you got the 50 percent right! Of course they could use some improvement but who's work doesn't?

Well done, next time try not to rush so much. :)

I am very fascinated by the second picture for some reason....

Keep it up!

Hey there, Micki. Nice job on these. Really. The style on both are very unique. I love when artists can take black and white and give it so much character like you did with these.

I really love the way you made the tree on the first one. It looks twisted and contorted in such a subtle and appealing way. The textures are what really make this piece something great. Bravo on that. The little walking figure in the distance (a bird I think?) --I like the way you made the shadow on that. It's stretched out far behind as he walks. Gives the image a time of day. The way the person(clockhead) is sitting on the rocking chair looks a bit uncomfortable though. Not so smooth with the legs either. Also, the window seems very underdone. The lines aren't very straight. But that's really all I have to say about it. I like it.

The second is more my favorite of the two I have to say. The frame you caught the little girl swinging in makes me think of a memory caught on camera or in a movie for some odd reason. It's very alive looking. I think the way you did the hair was very nicely done. Not very many people can draw great hair the way you did here. It blends in very well with your style. The way it's blowing in the wind very much adds to the alive look of this piece. The ripples and shading of the dress is also something to be commended on. I like when clothing falls onto a subject the way you drew this. One thing I didn't so much like though was the way you have the girl proportioned out. Her legs for example, appear much too skinny and detached from the body. The torso also seems a tad too long. I wouldn't say large though. You did a fine job of leveling things out with the hair.

Anyway, other than the things I've mentioned, I don't think that there's very much wrong with these pieces. They're creative and fun to look at. They have character, which is probably the most important thing to keep in mind when critiqueing artwork. Great job here, Micki. ^-^ Really. Keep up the great work!

Hello there. :) I'm not really experienced with visual art so I probably can't say anything constructive, but I gotta say that these works are nice. :) :smt023

I like the story that I get behind the first one. The clock being the head of someone who's seemingly bored and idling or just waiting - It's just a really nice concept. But I don't think it's that original though. I like the background and the style too. It's kinda old-timey or something xD. I saw that style of visual art before. I just can't remember or maybe, just really don't know the name. Anyway, I also like the tree in the background. The lines and the shades are just so fine. I think the weak spot in the drawing is the transparent glass behind the character. It felt a little too late and the lines aren't perfectly straight which should have been.

I like the second one better. :) I think it's stronger than the first one. And it's just happy and light like the emotion on the girl's face. I gotta tell you that at first look, it looked so real to me. I mean, it looked like a real photo with only some visual effects put on it. I hope you get what I'm saying. xD Anyway, I think it would be epic if you didn't rush. The details look a little messy when you look closer.

Never stop making art! :D xD

Let me guess, Grandfather Time is the play on words for the first one, right? It's not bad, though I think you need to decide if you're drawing in 2D or 3D as some parts are very flat like the legs and the tree in the background but then other sections like his stomach and the window are clearly 3D. That mix of style irked me somewhat. It might have worked better if you'd been more definate about it, for example made the background 2D but then everything in the foreground 3D. At least then it would be purposefully. Instead it just looks like lazy drawing.

With that said though, I love the tree. And the hill. And I like the little creature coming out of the clock, though I wish it was clearer if it's a bird or a mouse or something. I'd have liked you to make that more of a focal point, just a little. The window looks unfinished so you should clean that up and altogether, the piece could just use a few finishing touches.

The second I like better. I love the scratched, rather vague background and the sort of darkness to it. Most of my complaints are anatomical. Her limbs are much too thin and while that adds to the darkness of it, I think they should at least be proportinately thin; if you're going to make her thin go all the way and give her slimmer shoulders too and a shorter body. The hair is wonderful and very spot on and there's some good shading on the dress so nice work there.

Woah.
That second drawing is a masterpiece! I love it so much! I don't even know what to say. Everything about it is just beautiful and there is so much motion and I just can get lost in it. Perfecto.

The first drawing it great too. It's very interesting, and it feels like the more I look at it the more odd things I find, like that walking bird x) I love it. Only two critiques. First, the cane looks really small, especially compared to the clock man. Second, the one leg looks very stiff. The one that's folded on top of the other one? Plus, the direction the foot is pointed in doesn't seem right. Like it's twisted in the wrong direction or something.

Keep posting!!!

DUDET!! This is awesome!! Only artwork I've looked at is the stuff on the site, and stuff my brother and his girlfriend. I like the first picure too about grandfather time. I can see how you messed up on the background on the second one but the face?? maybe you messed up on the cheeks? If not then I honestly can't see it. Very, very goow artwork. The first one is also messed up with 2d/3d but I really don't care. the greatness is overdone by the mistakes. The wrinkles on the first one are also really cool.

Hey Mickixoxo, I'm Fortii.
Your style is interesting. It's definitely not a "classic" or "normal" style. I'm not sure if I like it or not. You have lots of talent in drawing though, so never give up! YAY!
