And we have color and fixes (though the blurb stayed — sorry Gal :P)! Don't know why it became all antialiased, but whatever. >.>

Not really an ad-conscious person, but something that bothered my writerly senses: I would put "under 30" above "looking to improve". As is, it reads like the writer is trying to improve under 30, whatever that means. Switch it and it might be more clear that you mean their age.

And maybe get rid of the "so" in "so come join us at"?

I love our logo more and more the longer I look at it. The font is very spiffy. This flier makes me so excited!

The only part I didn't really like about the flier was this part:

A Writer
Looking to Improve
Under 30

I think the age thing could have been described in a better way most likely. I do like the way you put Are YOU in bold, though. Things like that are perfect for fliers because it immediately stands out.

Also, the fact that this was pretty short and to the point was obviously the strong point. You want to catch the basic gist of the flier as you pass by so that it encourages you to go and browse the site for yourself. You did a decent job of that I think.

The last thing I wanted to point out was the website at the bottom. I'm pretty certain I saw Nate point this out himself on someone else's flier before. Try writing it as: http://www.YoungWritersSociety.com. For one, it just appears a lot cleaner looking. And secondly, writing it just simply as: http://www.youngwritersociety.com is so flat and looks like one squashed up word.

Other than that though, I think this would be a pretty decent flyer. It's maybe missing some kind of deeper aesthetic quality, but a pretty flier isn't necessarily for everyone. ^-^

Nice job here.

Hi Kyllorac,

Way too many words. Nobody has patience to read that much on a flier. Use concise points instead of that big paragraph, and take out the "So come join us at".

And yeah, I agree with others about the weird line spacing of "A writer looking to improve under 30".

Some more graphics or color would be nice too.

Hope that helped,
Galerius

I agree with the people who've said stuff about the under 30 part.

I don't think it's too wordy--wordiness varies from flyer to flyer.

.....I don't know how to review things with pictures.

......I just tried anyway.

.....I think I failed.

Oh well.

Anyway, I liked this! nice.

The lack of question mark after "Looking to Improve" is tickling my punctuation radar in a most uncomfortable manner. As is the lack of punctuation after "Join us at".

Actually, the text in general doesn't really make sense to me. I'd try something more like this (though I'm not saying you have to do this capitalization):
Are YOU
a writer under 30 [years old]
looking to improve?
If so, then
(Insert YWS logo)
may just be the place for you!

Also, I think you may want to put the lines of this part of the flier a little closer together because right now I feel like it's a bit hard to read.

And I'd suggest having this be only one font. Maybe two, if you count the text of the YWS logo. I think too many different fonts gets confusing and a little garish.

I kind of agree with Gale that maybe the blurb isn't necessary. Without it, you'd be going for sort of the "elegance of simplicity" approach, which might be rather nice. But if you're married to it, then you should keep it. I don't want to be responsible for breaking up a happy marriage. ^_^

...I just realized I forgot to fix the placement of the "Under 30" bit... Oops. Just pretend it was fixed and all because I meant to. Really. >.>

As for the blurb, I think it's necessary because it give a little explanation about what the site is about. It's always been a pet peeve of mine to see a flier that's attention-grabbing, but it really doesn't tell you what it's advertising about is, well, about. Especially since I want to know a bit more about something before seriously looking into it. But that might be just me.

Hey Kyll!
I really love the clean layout.
And I would say YES to the blurb.
Buuut, I'm iffy about having the 'Under 30' in the first place. I mean, it's not about the wordiness or anything, it seems like it's 'ohhey, you're above 30. You can't join us.' It's sort of too in-your-face in my opinion. How about removing that from there and pushing it into your blurb? That way, it's still there. IMO, anyway.

G'luck!

Hey Kyll.

For the most part, I like this. ^^ It's pretty simple, but nice. One thing I'm unsure about:

About YWS wrote:The Young Writers Society (YWS) is home to over 10,000 original poems and 15,000 original stories posted by their authors, ages 13 to 25.

YWS, as far as I know, is advertised as 13-25, not 13-30. We do have members that are around 30, but usually because they've already been here for quite awhile. I also have to agree with Lava regarding the "under 30" aspect. Maybe change it to something along the lines of:

A Writer
Age 13-25
Looking to Improve....

Get the idea? ^^; Good luck with this, I like it!
