I've been hearing a lot lately, that publishers generally do not accept writings already posted online. I was just wondering whether this is true or not.

I'm not sure either. I guess one could argue they don't want to publish something that is already public on the web. There may be copyright issues, depending on the site.

Isn't really a problem, if you want to submit something to a publisher, simply delete all the stuff currently online to prevent this potential obstruction from ocurring.

The general rule is, don't submit more than a couple of chapters online on a writing forum, unless that forum is very small and protected from the outside.

If you find a good critic (one is willing), you can show them your entire novel via email or otherwise. Then, because you're not showing everybody it, you can publish it.

The Jesus Theif by JR Lankford was written and posted online for a more adult writing website.

I think it depends on the publisher. Most don't want to mess with online stuff, but some will still publish. Especially if they don't know it's been online... lol.

That must be a horrible publisher, lol. I would at least edit the title's spelling errors out...
