Manila Bay

hello, this'll be the first time I'm going to post in this forum.

I'm just going to share some pictures I'd taken when my I went to Manila Bay with my family. I went there to get some inspiration for my writing, but I also took some pictures for fun. ) 'coz I got to borrow a digital camera. )

Because a lot of people have told me that my images needed to be resized, here they are.

The first thing you need to do is resize these photos. It will get you more reviews because if you can see the whole picture at once people can spot faults easier. This is a good thing! But, because you are new I will review these anyway. By the way welcome to the art and photography forum. O.K. I am going to go picture by picture and then do an overall.

1. This one is my favorite. But, it is very bright because of the light in the upper right hand corner. I think cropping that out and focusing on the plants at the bottom of the picture would really help this photo. If you have any questions on how to crop just p.m. me. I suggest cropping a lot, but is usually the only way I like to see photos improved. Other wise it is just fake looking.

2. I can see you took this at night so you had to use the flash, but it still kind of ruined the picture. The plants just look too bright. Also, I can see some spots on the screen that I think are on your camera lens. You might want to clean it. Another thing I didn't like about this was the detail or more the lack of it. I don't really see what the plants look like. This is probably because of the lighting. Sorry, but I don't think this has publishing qualities.

3. I really like this one and can find no problems except the camera is slightly tilted and I wish you were father away from the boy.

Overall I think you need to work on your lighting. Experiment with it. Get some books on it from the library. The best way to learn about lighting is just to practice, so I am not going to bore you with paragraphs of advice.

Those are pretty good pics.
And you can peek in here with info on resizing. It makes viewing easier.

#1. It is a bit boring and unfocused. There are lots of things ,which can be good, if it works to your advantage. Here, it doesn't/ You could prep it up, by focusing on something in particular, getting a good balance of light ( which doesn't mean it has to be evenly lit, just that there should be a proper flow of light just like a poem has a flow.) A good try, but could be loads better. The other photos show you have pretty good talent, so go ahead, experiment!

#2. Very, very good. This is good, it has a focus, there's light balance, good angles. The only nitpick is if you could crop the left. Here:


#3. It has very good composition and looks good. It would look better if you use a simple editing program and sdjust the contrast/ colouring.

On the whole, a very good job. Keep clicking.

Hello! Thank you for posting these pictures. I'm going to make recommendations, but I have no technical knowledge, so you may have to fix some things on your own or find someone else to help you.

First of all, I really like the first picture. The colors are very bright and I like the contrast between the bright leaf and the one that's lower and not so bright. I think, however, that the top leaf is a little TOO bright. It seems like it is disappearing into solid color, but the veins are so important in its texture that I'm regretting they're not captured as well. Also, if you have the chance, try taking the same picture again but without the dead leaves on the ground at the bottom. Clear them away, and it will make for a smoother background. Those colors are still in the picture with the stalks that stick up.

The second picture is really unremarkable. The framing is bad because that top plant sticks out of the square. It would be more pleasing to have them all captured, or to make a solid line where the plants are cut off. If, for example, you cropped off a little of the right side of the picture so that there was no big, blank space in the upper right hand corner, it would still be pleasing and you wouldn't have to capture the top of that plant.

I really like the dimensions in the third one, how there are two lamps at different distances and the children fill up the spaces between them, emphasizing that line. It might have been just a bit better if the close boy would have been facing the same way or if you'd waited just a bit for him to walk around the other side of the lamp. I appreciate the silhouette effect, but it would have been more effective if it had been even LESS clear, less details.

I'm looking forward to posting some traditional arts soon. I'm not really into photography much, I'm really more of a sketcher. But whatever arts it is, arts is arts and I love it! /

1. I love this picture, but I wish you would have included more of the front of the boat so we can see the whole thing. You also need to crop/edit out that bit of rope in the bottom left hand corner.

2. This picture is just too bright in the middle. It blocks out something and that is bad. The parts that aren't red are almost completely black. This is an O.K. photo, but it doesn't have publishing quality. I think it looks better with the pole cropped out:

3. I think you should have experimented with more angles on this. If you did please show us. I think it would have looked better if it wasn't from directly above. Maybe from one side. I can't really tell where you are unless you tell us. Because I have so many questions I don't really know what to think of this. The water looks cool though.

4. I like this picture much better in the daylight. If it is the same picture. Whatever it is in the upper left hand corner crop it out, because it is distracting. Besides that I really like this.

I think you need to experiment more. Instead of just taking pictures from certain angles take them from a bunch of different ones. I don't know if you did and those ones just didn't turn out, but right now all your pictures seem to conform they all have the same sense to them. There is nothing to spice them up. Nothing that really catches my eye. That will make it hard to get them published. Editors want something new something they have never seen before. The art of photography is getting that out of something everyone has already seen.

Hello there, Jash!

Oh my! Just seeing the title of your photographs makes me think you're from Philippines. Well, aren't you, my fellow countryman? Anyways, I'm just here to say something about those pictures. (I'm actually referring to the first few pictures)

Picture One

The focal shot you've got there is quite bright and good but perhaps you can try shooting it with some unique angles. I don't want to sound rude but I think anyone can take that picture. There's nothing so special about it that makes it so interesting to see. Personally and metaphorically speaking, it's just like a story with plain characters and a cliche' plot.

Picture 2

Oh, that's what I am talking about it. The wind makes a good effect on the picture but it's somewhat blurry. But as fas as I can see, that is pretty good.

Picture 3

That has potential but there's too much brightness coming from the sun that it already stands out unevenly more than the actual focus you've got there. What I mean is that, there's too much lightning that kind of irritates the eyes and that makes the people on that photo to have little significant part. How you've shot it also makes the background dark, so improve on that.

Anyway, onto the pictures. The first is really prettty. I like that the colors are so bright!
I like the second one the most. The last one in your first post was really shiney and I actually didn't like it....

I truly love the way you have taken these photos! I think we have a photographer within our midst! I am so jealous. My photo taking is about as good as a potato trying to...I'm shockingly horrible! Picture two by far is my favourite. I love they way you captured the nature and framed it so that you not only brang out the crop, but the area behind it. Great artists do that, as they want to not only entertain the foreground but the background.

This also goes for the first and third photos. The way you used the colors and angles really just spiffs up the objects within the pictures. I mean they're plain objects but you use them so well I think they're works of art. I wish I went there. No, I wish I had your ability of picture taking.

The time of day you took these also magnifies their beauty...great job!

By the way, this grey piece of paper kept whispering at my ear, begging me( well, not begging. Advising, really.) to like it.
So I did.
And the paper burst into flames, and its ashes scattered on the various wires coming out of my PC.

I will admit, the colours in all these pictures are absolutely beautiful. Bright and vivid to the extreme .
