In my English class, we have been learning about canticles for a little bit and my class wrote an individual canticle.
A canticle (from the Latin canticulum, a diminutive of canticum, song) is a hymn (strictly excluding the Psalms) taken from the Bible. The term is often expanded to include ancient non-biblical hymns such as the Te Deum and certain psalms used liturgically.
A Canticle is a chant, hymn or song, especially a nonmetrical one, with words from a biblical text.
A canticle is like a hymn/song that praises God for a gift or something like that. Well, I should type down my poem now. :b

Magnificat of My Angelic Friend

My soul is thankful because God has lifted the burden on my shoulders and brought me happiness again

My spirit was down, but now is blissful

For He was looked at me with pity and sent me “my angel”

The Almighty had heard my prayers and answered them with an angel sent from heaven

With a dark cloud above my head, I had given up hope

I prayed through night and day for happiness, yet it still hadn’t come

Then, God heard my cry and sent an angel

The angel gave me the power to be glad and I am here, living in glory

Now, I am left with an angel by my side

The promise He made to bring us a savior has happened twice, once for everyone and once for myself

Hope you like it. If you can tell, this is about a "special someone" that is in my life. Well, hope you like it!

Wow I have never seen nor wrote anything like this in my whole life! In fact I never saw this in class or anything like that! ;) Haha. Well anyway, I'll get on with my review. First great defination of a canticle. I know that is a bit random but it sounded like something I could read in a dictionary. (That was a compliment.) The only "bad" thing I can say is to put periods at the end of your sentences and if your thought is broken up into two lines, put a nice comma. Other than that amazing! I'm positive you'll get a 100. I honestly just typed mine. :)

Man, it’s been what, over a year sense I was last on this site. It’s time to dust off the cob webs.

Ok, I really like the poem. It flows really well and the message is easily conveyed. The only thing grammatical I see wrong is line three For He was looked at me with pity and sent me “my angel” I think the word "was" is just a small typo. Other than that I see no other errors.

The only other little thing I notice is the mood of the poem goes from dark to happy the back to dark and happy again. It kind of threw me off. It's like your beginning is repeated in the middle. Maybe reread it any find a way for the message to flow. I know what you're saying, and it rolls off the tongue, but I feel I’m being told something twice.

Again, nothing major and take what you want seriously as you will. Hope I helped and it's good to be back.

If you ever make any big changes let me know. I'd love to read it again.
I will always fight back, no matter what.

Oh my God! I can't believe I made that mistake! (About the For He 'was' looked at me with pity....) Dang it! I just sent that piece to my teacher too! Now, I'm going to get a bad grade! Well, thanks for pointing that out there.
Thanks, Hope! You should post your canticle as well! :D
