To be noticed

I'd like being called Avid..want to explore humanity and serve it on a platter for everyone to enjoy and share my enthusiasm......I like the emerging new modern work which has a more aver view of expressing themselves rather than the classical way of rhyming things........

I like writing humor because I love laughing at a good joke....

I am a food-junkie.....literally.......live to eat...can make friends very easily....have a open mind towards applause as towards criticism.......

And my aim is to be noticed as an individual and also for the uniqueness i possess within me......

Hey there Avid, and welcome to Young Writers Society! My name is Heather, but your free to call me anything you want (I'm often called Arris, Arrish, Fire, etc).

To get started posting your own writing, click the “Submit” tab. If you want to read other works or critique, go to the “Discover Works” tab and find a category that you'd like to look at. It might take awhile to learn it all, but you'll likely get used to it! ^.^ Feel free to let me know if you ever have any questions or want any critiques – I critique just about anything. Below are a few things that I suggest you look at, so that way you understand the rules of the site and you can also get any help you need.

Official YWS Rules and Guidelines – This is great to check out, so you can know the rules on the site. =]

Questions and Answers – Like the other two, this is great to check out. You can ask questions here and get help from other members, or you can help members later on. You can also look at previously asked questions. =D

The Knowledge Base – This is another great place to check out. You can see several guides and tips regarding writing, and post your own with the approval of a moderator. =]

Now that we got that out of the way, I have questions for you! (See, we are silly people here, so we often ask lots of questions to get to know you)

Welcome to YWS! First, some questions.

What are some hobbies?

Here are some tips I give to help you out here.

1. We do a 2:1 ratio thing here. That is, we expect 2 reviews for every 1 piece of work you post. That is however a bare minimum, it is always nice if you do more as it makes you acquainted with other people, and it helps your writing. (Seriously, one of the best things to learn how to write, is to read others work and edit it.)

2. To go along with the 2:1 ratio thing, your YWS points, are like your own bank of cash. 75 points are used to post a literary item and 50 points are gained per review.

3. As I said above, it is nice to review others work as they will want to review yours as a sort of repayment.

4. Be nice, and remember, anything is acceptable. Pictures, lyrics, short stories, poems.... There is a lot of different stuff you can do.

Welcome to YWS! I'm here because I don't like people I know reading my stuff. Perhaps not as inspiring as wanting my individuality known, but that's the heart of it. You sound like you'll fit in well here; people here are pretty friendly (as everyone says) and after a little while you'll get to know some of them pretty well.
I look forward to seeing what you've got; we'll have to see just how well you can take the criticism...
Which is a threat. Yes, I'm threatening you. In the welcome message. It's mostly an empty threat, since I don't really come down very hard on people's works, but consider this threat (or the more people-friendly "challenge") as encouragement to write well the first time. And do lots of proofreading. And have fun. Or else.
