So, I'm really nervous about posting my writings. I've already posted one thing, and I'm nervously waiting for reviews. I've never showed anyone my writing because I have a fear of rejection and most of my writing is close to my heart and personal, so It's scary to do this. I just wanted to write a little something so people would even know that I'm here. Thanks for your time.
I'm smiling, that alone should scare you.

Don't be so nervous. I know it's hard to show someone your writing. I've loved writing since eighth grade and it took me two years to show it to anyone. Let me tell you something my creative writing teacher told me: "You can't get any better at your writing by staying in a vacuum." It really is true and I promise if you practice, post, and comment with this site you'll get much better. And remember that the things people say are just their opinion and it is you that has the final say on how you want your writing to turn out. That's a lesson I'm still trying to learn to this day. And I know it can be hard showing someone your writing that is personal. Just think of this way, no one on this site knows you in person (well maybe some do) so don't worry about what they think and you'll probably never see any of them in person so it doesn't matter. And since no one knows your real name you have nothing to lose.

Welcome to YWS! I hope you like it here and if you have any questions feel free to write on my wall, email me, or PM me. I'd be glad to help:)

Hi stargazer, welcome to YWS. Let me tell you from personal experience that you have nothing to worry about. The people here are really nice, and almost every review I've gotten has been constructive and helpful. I've never had someone reject my work as bad, and while I remember being afraid people here would bash the stuff I posted, it was totally worth the risk. Since I started posting here, I've gotten a lot better at writing, and I think you'll have a lot of fun here. if you ever need anything, just PM me and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can. your friend,

if anyone wants a review, post on my profile and I'll get to it in a couple days.

Hey Midnight!

Don't be scared! No one here is going to get on your for anything, all this is is a place to improve, and believe me, everyone needs to improve. :) It will all be nice criticism. Here are a few tips while you are here.

1. We do a 2:1 ratio thing here. That is, we expect 2 reviews for every 1 piece of work you post. That is however a bare minimum, it is always nice if you do more as it makes you acquainted with other people, and it helps your writing. (Seriously, one of the best things to learn how to write, is to read others work and edit it.)

2. To go along with the 2:1 ratio thing, your YWS points, are like your own bank of cash. 75 points are used to post a literary item and 50 points are gained per review.

3. As I said above, it is nice to review others work as they will want to review yours as a sort of repayment.

4. Be nice, and remember, anything is acceptable. Pictures, lyrics, short stories, poems.... There is a lot of different stuff you can do.

If you have any questions, or would like a nice review, let me know.

Hiya! I know I promised to get on your story but I was distracted by facebook. I'll get on it now though :D

So what kind of things do you like to write? And don't be scared, us YWS don't bite. That hard. Well, even if we do, I promise we've all gotten our shots. :) Since it's Review Day, the community forums won't be used very much and it'll be a tad bit harder to get to know everything about YWS as soon. No worries! You can go to chat where you'll meet a bunch of super-epic people, you can review and gain points to post literary points OR you can be totally epic and enter my contest! The link should be down in my signature as 'YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO ENTER THIS CONTEST'. First prize is 3k points and I think I put five reviews. :) PM me if you have ANY questions or just want to talk. :)

BAI.

I am nothing
but a mouthful of 'sorry's, half-hearted
apologies that roll of my tongue, smoothquick, like 'r's
or maybe like pocket candy
that's just a bit too sweet.

Ha, Jas you make me laugh. As long as you've all had your shots then I guess I won't worry. I love to write poetry, but fiction stories are my favorite. I use to have a problem finishing my novels because, as I said before I never showed them to anyone, so I didn't have much motivation besides myself and I'm not so good at motivating myself haha. The novel that I've posted is actually the first realistic story I've written, everything else has been fantasy. There's a possibility that I'll do your contest, but I'm not sure. I looked at it yesterday, but I'm still thinking.

I'm officially making it my goal in life to become a roomba. I want to be little robot. I want knives taped to me. I want to be free.
