Hi Neha!
Namaste! *folds hands*

Welcome to YWS and don't worry, we're all just as bit as crazy as you are.
So, I'm Lava and glad to meet a fellow Indian!

So, what do you like to write? Me, I prefer fiction especially sci-fi. And I'm not much of a poetry person, but I love reading a good poem with lots of imagery. :)
You're planning on writing as a career? Awesomeness! Good luck!

I'm sure you'll get some good critiques to your works here. And they'll help you improve as a writer. I know it did for me.
Well, to answer the questions, we have an FAQ page, which you can access by clicking the '?' at the right end of the black bar. (Click Here)

So, if you'd like to post some work of yours, click on the Submit button. (Here!)
Since Review Day is coming (which is a day devoted to reviewing others' works) you should definitely post something and you'll get a good number of critiques.

And if you'd like to read through and maybe critique what other YWSers have written, go here.
And, do visit the chatroom to meet some of the crazy YWSers!

Hope to see you around soon!
Have a great day!
~Lava

P.S. Feel free to PM me with questions if you need anything.

Neha! That is so cool, I have a younger sister with the same name.
Well, my name is Pink or Shear - whatever you like to call me. ^^
And yes, I'm Indian as well. Namaste <3

Well, it seems like our friend Lava has pretty much gone through the basics of the site with her post so I won't dwell too much on that part. However, if you feel like you have any questions and need some more help then you're always free to PM me. I'll be glad to help you navigate the site. When I first joined, this place was a little confusing as well so I don't blame you for being slightly confused. In fact, I didn't know they had a welcome mat under a few weeks later. lol :)

Now, be sure to post some works and ring me a bell if you want a review from me. ^__^
I'll be looking forward to seeing you around the site! Stay active!

Hey Lava..thanks a lot for getting me through the basics. It was very helpful. Very Very glad to meet you. I love reading sci-fi! But I prefer Romance better. :)
I am actually planning to write a novel. Its basically on love, friendship and problems faced by intermediate students in India (related to life in corporate colleges and how students are pressurized due to the number of competitive exams and stuff) But its a novel so do I have to post 1 chapter at a time. That's my doubt. :) I will definitely try to come up with something for review day. Please stay in touch. ~Neha

Hey Neha!

I know how that can feel. I've been through that and I survived! (lol!)
So, on posting a novel, it will be easier if you post as chapters, because that way, it'll be easier for the reviewers to read (as smaller portions of text are always nicer) and also, it'll be easier to follow. But you can post a maximum of two literary works in one day.

Elinor's article on posting a novel (topic72989.html) should help you out.

Review Day is in a few hours, so I'd suggest you post something now, and you'll get some critiques!

PM me if you need more help.
~Lava.

Hey there Neha!

Obviously you are a very happy person... :) haha And the fact that you love writing means you will fit in just perfectly here. I have some tips to help you out!

1. We do a 2:1 ratio thing here. That is, we expect 2 reviews for every 1 piece of work you post. That is however a bare minimum, it is always nice if you do more as it makes you acquainted with other people, and it helps your writing. (Seriously, one of the best things to learn how to write, is to read others work and edit it.)

2. To go along with the 2:1 ratio thing, your YWS points, are like your own bank of cash. 75 points are used to post a literary item and 50 points are gained per review.

3. As I said above, it is nice to review others work as they will want to review yours as a sort of repayment.

4. Be nice, and remember, anything is acceptable. Pictures, lyrics, short stories, poems.... There is a lot of different stuff you can do.

Hope this helps! If you have questions or would like a review, let me know!
