I could tell immediately that I was going to win, and Tyler’s stance and facial expression said he knew too. He was thinking I’m going to die therefore preparing himself for losing.
Even though I was not expecting someone to be nearly as fast and skilled as me in knife fighting, I had to admit Tyler was fast and reasonably skilled. I jumped back as he lunged forwards trying to skewer me, I slashed at the crook of his elbow while it was still out stretched drawing out from him a yelp of pain. Tyler’s knife dropped to the ground with a sharp clatter. He was clutching at his elbow trying to staunch the precious life source that was pouring down his arm and dripping into the earth.
“Bitch, you cut me!” Tyler shouted at me in rage, I smiled at him wickedly. He lent to pick up his knife, not keeping his eyes on me and felt a sharp prick of pain under his chin.
“Yeah that’s right, you know what it is,” I said threateningly, “Try anything and it’ll be the last thing you will do,” he glared at me and his eyes followed me as I bent and picked up his knife, sliding it into the waistband at the back of my jeans. I flashed him a grin, “Yeah that’s right, no one messes with me and lives,” I said in triumph.
“Well you have one problem there Tash, I’m still alive,” he said the name that I had given him like it was a bad taste in his mouth. I kicked him.
“Shut up and I might just let you live, not likely though as I don’t care about you, and my name is Emilie not Tash.” I said deadpan, I didn’t really care if he lived or died, but dead he wouldn’t be able to talk about me, I threw him a chilling smile as he realized I wasn’t joking.
“Why did you tell me your name was Tash then?” Tyler asked with a glare.
“Like I was going to tell you my real name, but as you’re going to die it doesn’t matter now,” I replied coldly, crouching down
“Wait...wait!” he said almost screaming it at me, fear dancing in his eyes
“Shut up, please, I’m not the kind who believes in mercy so just can it,” I said rolling my eyes; I grabbed a handful of his hair lifting him partially of the ground exposing his throat, his Adams’ apple sticking out like a sore thumb. My heart was still pumping adrenaline through my body as I pressed the knife against Tyler’s throat, ready to slice across it and let the blood surge against the back wall. This would be the first time I killed someone, not just a straw dummy with a bit of water and food dye; this would be an actual live person, someone that had family, people to care about them. I stood there debating with myself; killing someone took its toll on people, sometimes it sent them insane... would I be able to do it? Kill someone, take their life and end their suffering? I mentally shrugged and pressed the blade a little harder into his throat. Tyler closed his eyes and swallowed heavily, with what looked like tears dripping down his face, despite that fact he looked pretty calm for one who is about to die. I couldn’t do it, I just couldn’t; I relaxed a little, bringing the blade away from Tyler’s throat. I instead cut an E on one side of his neck, his eyes widened when he felt the scrape of my knife against his skin, but he just kept his mouth firmly shut. I admired his courage. I pulled a bandana out of my back pocket and tied it around the wound in my arm, I pulled a handkerchief out of another pocket and wiped my blades clean.
I swiftly picked up my bag and was about to walk away when I changed my mind, walked slightly past him and slit his throat, careful not to get splattered and stood behind him watching the spurting streams of red plaster the back wall of the alleyway. When the blood had slowed down to a dribble and was dripping instead onto his shirt, I pulled on some gloves and searched his body for a phone; I called 911, dropped the phone on the ground next to the body and dashed out the ally shoving the gloves back into my backpack. I kept running until I had a stitch in my side, I figured that I was far enough from that particular alley. I felt something sharp digging into the small of my back and remembered that I had placed Tyler’s knife there, I pulled it from my jeans and examined it, it looked pretty good for a standard issue army knife, it was well looked after. I noticed something scratched into the handle, there were some letters etched into it, and I squinted at it in the fading light, trying to figure out what it said. S…E…A…L. It read SEAL.
Oh my god! I’ve just killed a SEAL in a knife fight, I fought him and I won! I thought with mixed emotions, I was feeling elated yet horrified that I had just tussled with a SEAL. Everything was swirling around in my head, thoughts bumping into one another until one really stood out.
Wait a second, he wasn’t a SEAL, SEAL’S know no fear and don’t show any emotions plus there excellent fighters, especially with knives and close-quarter combat, the knife must have belonged to someone Tyler had killed,I realized, going over what had happened in my head. I shrugged my shoulders and continued walking, shoving the knife into my backpack, refastening the straps that held my wrist knives, making sure that they were tight and concealed. I soon heard sirens screaming from not far away, I looked over my shoulder and saw that I had not come as far as I thought I had. There was a squad car coming up the street towards me, my hands became sweaty, I wiped them on my jeans, turned up the volume of my Ipod, and started bopping my head as if I was in tune with the music. The squad car was almost beside me, I tried to look innocent and pretended that I had just seen the car and waved to them smiling, I continued walking. I came upon another alleyway, I looked in the alleyway to make sure it wasn’t a dead end, it lead to another street, I walked down the alley and paused in the middle, I removed my wrist knives and strapped them into a pocket on the inside of my shoes. I continued to the next street and looked both ways to make sure that it was unoccupied. The squad car had gone around the corner and caught up with me, it was now coming down the street relatively fast, and it was nearly at the entrance to the alleyway. I turned around to head back the way I’d come from but found it to be blocked by another squad car, officers were starting to come out of the cars, opening the doors using them as a barricade to block bullets, and to stop me from passing.
