Hello!

Hi everyone. My name is Tayler, and I stumbled upon this site today when I was looking for some things to help motivate me to write. I've always loved writing, but with school and work and everything, it can be a bit hard to find time. I figured if I joined this site, it might help to motivate me; which would be a great thing since I have what I consider to be a good idea for a story!

I love writing about angels, as the idea of them fascinates me. My current novel does indeed involve angels. The characters actually stemmed from an exceptionally well developed RPG I was part of, and they became so well developed I actually felt attached to them and was sad to let them go when the RPG fell apart. So, I started making plans to write a story about them that left them intact, but took a whole new story line (the RPG was a Medieval story where my two characters were a knight-turned-thief-lord and a thief, mine is present day and they are descendants of angels). Enough about that for now though, I suppose.

I'm an 18 year old girl preparing to graduate and go to college for Wildlife Biology. I absolutely love horses, and ride a gorgeous Saddlebred gelding named Jericho. Reading is a passion of mine (a passion I assume I share with a lot of you) and I can't wait to read some stories on here and review them! I'd talk about my favorite books, but the list is quite extensive. I'm equally excited to start posting my story and get reviews. I hope to make some friends and improve my writing.

Really, the more you can tell us the better. Not to sound stalker-ish and creepy.
I joined the site for similar reasons. I have so many ideas that it's hard for me to stay focused on one for a long time. It helps.
Your novel sounds very interesting, though I have to admit that the books I've read about angels have always rubbed me the wrong way. I'd be willing to give yours a try though.
One of the most important things you can do as a writer is read, so many of us do. I love to read though school and writing have taken priority lately.
I suggest review first and then post. As I'm sure you've heard, you get more reviews if you review a lot.
Just PM me or post something on my wall if you ever need a review.

Not stalkerish and creepy at all! That makes perfect sense.

Do you mind me asking what novels you've read about angels that have rubbed you the wrong way? Just curious, as I've read quite a few myself. Some are on my favorites list, some I really didn't like. It seems they are the new vampires, and that scares me. I don't want angels being written to death like vampires are, but I'm not going to not write about them just because they've become a big thing.

I can never read as much as I like during the school year. The reason? I get into the book, then stay up way to late finishing it!

I've been looking through stories to find one to read and review. Mine isn't quite ready to be posted yet anyway. I'm just not entirely sure what to say, but I suppose I'll figure it out. Thanks for the welcome, and I'm glad to hear the site helps with writing!

I'm not sure how I feel on the Angel is the new Vampire debate. I've read Fallen and Torment, didn't like them. I also read Hush, hush and Crescendo and sort of liked them. I think, like Vampires, Angel stories are only good when done well.

I can't wait to read some of your stuff.

I'm not into fantasy, so I don't really have an opinion there.

I share with you the love of horses! I don't own any because I live in the city and boarding is crazy expensive (where I come from anyway)

I would really like you to talk about you favourite books. I don't care how long the list is. Sometimes when I'm in a bookstore/library, I just don't what to look for, so it's helpful to get ideas.

I love Hush, Hush and Crescendo. Have you ever read the Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare? They aren't exactly angels, but involve angels as the "Shadowhunters" are half human, half angel. I'm a big fan of these books. I agree, if not written write or simply the same old story it can definitely get old. I've not read Fallen, though I do have it on my shelf. I just need to find the time!

I have a prologue written, but I'm not sure: should I write the first chapter and post them at the same time or post the prologue right away? I'm anxious to see what people think of it. Unfortunately, I'm terrible at story beginnings so I'm hoping I don't kill anyone's interest because of that. Though I do think I've improved somewhat with beginning. That's just my thoughts on it though.

Joyce, what kind of books do you like? I'd be happy to talk with you about them. I have the same problem. Of course, other times I find some and want to buy about a billion books. I live in the city as well, which is why I ride Jericho. He belongs to a lady without enough time for him, so its really a great set up. I get to ride for free, and he gets his exercise!

I think I like it here already.

I looooove the Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices! I finished them all in 3 days! Clockwork Angel was fantabulous!! AHH. She's coming out with the next Mortal Instruments book in April and I dunno when the next Infernal Devices book comes out but I can't wait. DDDDDDDDD

Post the prologue nowish. I wants to reads it I doubt you'd kill anyone's attention.

Ah I just finished the Infernal Devices yesterday. Started it yesterday too, haha. I was up until about 12:30 finishing it. I've had it since it came out, but for some reason never got around to reading it! So good, so disappointed I have to wait until September (yep, that's when it comes out!) to read what Will's deal is! Also, I was so excited to find out that she was writing another Mortal Instrument's book. I think I may need to reread them before then!

Also, I'll post the prologue and the start (or all, if I finish it...not too much left so) of the first chapter soon here. Will you be on long? I'd love to have someone to read it!

What kind of books do I like? Lots. Right now I'm kinda into historical fiction, but I'll read pretty much anything that sounds interesting. Like I said before I don't like paranormal, but I assume that you read other books too. Give me any book titles that you think are really good, and I'll look into them. I would really appreciate it!

Hm, that's true I do! Its science fiction/romance type, but Across the Universe by Beth Revis was phenomenal. I wasn't sure when I got it, but I was immediately drawn in. The Hunger Games are an interesting trilogy, another that I wasn't able to put down. I really enjoy Eva Ibbotson's novels, though if you do try them (its been a while since I read any so I could be wrong but from what I remember) don't be discouraged by the first few pages. It takes a bit to get into, but then if you're like me, you'll love them.

Aurelia by Anne Osterlund was a good book, my only complaint that it was too short. Oh, and the Luxe's novels! I loved those, though I haven't read the last. I need to go back and reread those...I'd forgotten what happened by the time I got my hands on the last.

It's really the fact that they aren't happy where they are. It kind of goes against what I've always thought what heaven was. Like Hush Hush was okay since he remains an angel, but if you've ever seen City of Angels, which isn't a book but falls under the catagory, I had to stop watching it because the angel chooses to fall from heaven. I don't want to get into that debate or anything, but there you go. I haven't had a chance to really read anything else, so I suppose I spoke a little fast. Anyway, there's your answer.
I have a novel I'm working on on the side that is partially about angels actually.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one without a life haha. I should have the prologue up soon. I may not have time to finish chapter 1 actually. I have to be up early for work.

That makes sense, about the angels not being happy. It definitely goes against what heaven is like in most people's minds. One of my ideas was actually about an angel whose fallen, but wants desperately to earn his wings back. The twist is that the fate of angels relies on him because many are losing faith in the human race, and whatnot so I suppose that was more typical of what most see heaven as. My current one may not be, exactly. I'm not sure where its going yet. I was just curious about what it was you didn't like...its always good to know what people like/don't like about the type of writing you're doing!
