Your arms brush against mine,
nerves shot up in quivers.
A pulse follows in hurry,
so afraid to wither.

Hungry for an embrace,
I taunt you with my eyes.
Head rested on your chest,
can you silence my cries?

In a moment or two,
you consume me;
just a dying echo,
for thoughts can't be as free.

Should friends act like lovers?
Such things as borrowed time?
Though I want to have you,
don't want to call you mine.

You can't have me either,
constrictions I despise.
Yet I'm tied down knowing,
I never will suffice.

I want to be wanted,
such pleads of vanity?
An uncalled moral stand,
a questioned sanity.

My eyes aren't set on you,
I'm not being a tease.
Yet I will be honest,
with you I feel at ease.

Everyday companion,
when will our talks end?
Not that I'm complaining,
just too much rules to bend.

There is one fear I have,
that I may not control.
Rocks exposed in the cold,
might later break and fall.

I really liked this but I didn't understand the last stanza .
Know that she's back in the atmosphere I'm afraid that she'll think of me as a plain old Jain told a story 'bout a man who was to afraid to fly so he never did land. ~Train

Thanks for the comments! I just realized the metaphor in the last line is a bit out of place because it's much deeper compared to the other lines which are generally more direct to the point. Basically, the persona of the poem fears developing deeper emotions towards her "everyday companion". ;)

We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.
