My Lords, ladies and gentlemen... and that fellow over there in the corner.

My name is Josh and I'm something of a writer. I am here mainly because I am in the beginning of what one day could be the pinnacle of writing a petty mystery novel. I say petty because the protagonist of my slow paced book is a 'first time private detective', whether that type of detective exists I know not.

Over the duration of my stay here I hope to post the occasional chapter of my novel to get some constructive criticism, nice feedback and the odd naysayer saying, as usual: Nay.

This should be fun for all of us, except that fellow over there in the corner of course and possibly you if you hate endless amounts of failing wit.

Again, my name is Josh and boy do I love your emotes! :elephant:

Josheh! Hah, is that pronounced (jaw-shay)? I love it! although I suppose you'd like to go by just Josh or you would have stated otherwise or something? Meh... I like Josheh more.

Heh, you're funny... and, like, I can tell you were trying to be funny, but you pulled it off swimingly. I, on the other hand, try to be funny, yet I'm affraid I don't quite pull it off (and I just admitted it anyways, so the jig is completely and utterly "up")

Well, I don't read a lot of mystery, however I'm sure that whatever it is you wrote it isn't bad. Then again, maybe it is. Honestly I don't know you at all and can only begin to estimate your writing capabilities. Maybe you should try writing something funny, I bet you'd be good at that. Is your detective story funny? Or is it all, like, serious and detectivy and stuff?

So, like, yeah... welcome to YWS, Josheh!

Any questions? Any? Any?! Just ask. I'm a nice cat.

Hey Tabby!

First off, Josheh's pronounced how it looks - Josh with the added 'eh' at the end. Sort of like a much more awesome substitute for Joshy.

And how glad I am to hear that you find me funny, and on the note of trying to sound funny... You got me! But atleast I pulled it off... *Evil cackle*

My mystery story has hints of fantasy in it (i.e. heaven, hell and fallen angels) but it's okay since a lot of the 'fantasy' items I'm including can be explained easily with scientific reason. Humour wise, the main protagonist or anti-hero of the story is quite witty with hints of sarcasm along the way, the second main character a very shy and geeky guy who can spout off the occasional witticism and the third, well, she's just plain angry. So I hope that clears the mist on whether It'll be funny or not. :)

On a final side note, you Tabby, are very funny and if you keep telling yourself that, then others will start thinking you are also! ...The worst that could happen is that you'd become a bit of a biggot, which wouldn't be too good...

Hey Josh, welcome to YWS!
Your novel seems like something I would read, because I enjoy writing crime fiction myself. Your adding science and fantasy into the mix sounds like it makes for a great story!
So basically, the people here at YWS are great and we love to answer any question you might have about your work. I can't wait to read your story, you can PM me or write on my wall about it whenever you like.
Again, welcome and I hope you enjoy it here!

Hey Alex,

I can tell already that YWS is something special, as it has something of a nicer vibe about it than a few other forums I've been on in the past! I'll be sure to contact you in the future then when Chapter 1 is uploaded; it probably wont get all action-packed and detective like until the 3rd chapter, but still, I'll try not to keep you waiting! :D

Hi, Josh! It's been a whole day now! Hope you're figuring things out around here. Took me a while to finally understand what all the forums were. xD

I've always wanted to write a mystery! But I'm not very good at solving them, so I'm not so sure I'd be good at writing them... Still! It's one of my writing goals. You'll find plenty of help around here though, and we'd be happy to help you in anything you're struggling with. Though your current novel idea sounds fantastic! I'm sure you'll be able to figure things out.

Do you write any other genre, or is mystery your main thing? Novels, I assume. Do you dabble in poetry? I could *never* write poetry for my life. xD But there are amazing poets around here if you wanted to try it out. Script writing if amazing fun! If you're into dialogue, you'll have loads of fun with that.

Any other hobbies besides writing? Video games or sports? Music or art? I'm a musician myself, but I play a lot of video games when I get the chance. Also other miscellaneous hobbies, but those are probably the biggest two for me!

I'll see you around YWS! If you have even the slightest confusion about something, don't hesitate at all to send a PM my way. I'm more than happy to help! You're going to have a wonderful experience here. :D

Hey Jabber,

I'm figuring this place out just fine; the people here are lovely and the layout is so easy to work with!

About writing mystery, I'm actually quite new to it myself but I've also read a lot of it, so it was series like Sherlock Holmes, Dirk Gently and Dexter (not a detective, but seems to carry the same traits) that got me inspired to write my own. I'm so glad you like the sound of it, that makes two of us then! Writing a mystery, to me, doesn't seem to difficult, but that could just be that I'm pretty summed up in that area. Although - I do carry a pretty handy tip a good friend told me, who's also writing a book at the moment coincidentally...

The way a lot of these authors have all the incredibly fitting subplots and events that all link in the end, is because they write the ending first! It sounds crazy, but it makes sense if you give it some thought. They write a very bulky thriller of an ending and then just ad in little subplots as they then proceed to write from the beginning.

Talents & hobbies wise, I'm something of an aspiring artist/cartoonist and am trying to work towards becoming a stand-up comedian also. I can't say I like video-games nowadays at all, I much preferred the Gamecube era where if you liked first-person shooter games you were considered suspicious by the goverment, but I suppose it's really all that you and you alone enjoy and get pleasure out of. I've written poetry before, I think I did a piece about Auschwitz that was featured all over my school when it was National Holocaust Memorial Day last year but I was stupid enough to lose it when I now want to upload it! Wahhh! Oh well...

Thanks for your kind welcoming -

~ Josh

Impressive observation skill, mister. You actually discover my presence that I had deliberately hidden with my ninja skills. Seems like I cannot remain silent anymore.

Welcome to YWS, Josh. From time to time I will disappear, but I will stealthily gives you some reviews as reward, because you were sharp enough to notice me.
