Hello people. I'm sorry if someone has already done this...but I want to open this to know many other members out there so please answer these questions.
1. What is your name?
2. How old are you?
3. What are your hobbies other than writing?
4. What kind of writing do you enjoy? (Poem, Fiction Stories,...)
5. What kind of reading do you like? (Poem, Novels,...)
6. How do you find this forum?
7. When do you write and How long a day do you spend practice your writing skills?
8. Which types of stories do you like to write about? (Horror, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Drama,...)
9. Which types of stories do you like to read about?
10. What do you plan on doing in the future?

My name is Curtis.
I am 17 years old, very close to 18.
I love watching comedy and science fiction tv shows and movies, I also like swimming, biking and listening to music.
Poetry, Screenwriting, Fiction short stories
Novels
I searched on Google for "publish writing for teenagers" and a website linked me here. I like it here and I invited one of my friends to join as well. I really want to improve my writing skills with other teenage writers out there and possibly work with some of them. :)
I write when I am sad or excited about certain events and feelings I have in my life, also when I am inspired. I don't really do daily practice but I have heard that they are good with improving our skills.
Fantasy stories
Detective stories, Fantasy stories and science fiction stories(this one not so much)
I want to be an actor and a writer in the future.

Hey, welcome to YWS curtis! I love comedy shows too, just for the record. Oh, and if you want to improve your writing -- this is the place! YWS has greatly helped to improve my own personal writing skills, and not to mention that the Adminstration team has put a bunch of helpful writing resource links just below if you scroll down -- they've helped me quite a bit too! I really like your signature by the way!

1. On here, I'm referred to as 'Flux'
2. I'm fifteen, going on sixteen this coming year ... in July. So I've still got a while of waiting to go ... !
3. horse-back riding, as I own two. I also love listening to music/ singing. I play the saxophone and the flute ... and kind of piano. I can manage to learn a song or two.
4. I enjoy just ... writing. Not poetry (as I couldn't write poetry if my life depended on it!) I like short-stories, script-writing from time-to-time, etc.
5. Novels!
6. Oh man, I googled something ages ago -- I can't remember what, though!
7. I write any time ... Lol. I find I write best at night when I'm getting super-tired, as my mind is at ease and the descriptions just come so much easier ... as weird as that is! I write as much as I have time for, usually!
8. I write anything, basically. Whatever idea I get, and whatever inspires me, I guess I'll write about it!
9. Same as what I write -- anything. If it interests me, I'll pick it up!
10. I'm not sure about the future yet, but I know I want to keep writing a part of my life!

So, as I said before, welcome to YWS. Check out the rules, obviously, as there are some great tips to keeping friendly with everyone! XD Stuff like the 2:1 review ratio, and such! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me, or a junior moderator (light green), moderator (darker green), or an admin (with the burgandy name). I hope you enjoy your time at YWS, and I hope you get better at writing, like I'm sure every member here has!

Hi Curtis! Welcome to YWS!

Like Flux said, this is a great place to improve your writing, and to hang out and get to know other young writers. Which I suppose is the reason behind the this thread, yeah? So, here goes.

1. The name's Rachael Elg! Everyone calls me Rach, though. It's much easier and faster to type.
2. I am 19, 20 in April.
3. I read, rollerblade, kayak, bike, hike, bake stuff, cook stuff, and play old school video games.
4. I typically write novels, of the fantasy/sci-fi variety. Occasionally, I'll write a short story or flash piece, typically of the general fiction or sci-fi/fantasy variety. I also write poetry when the mood strikes, but I don't share it,
5. I read novels, usually either Classics or fantasy. (A strange mix. Yes, I know.)
6. I found this forum by Googling "young writers forum," I believe.
7. 'Twas a time when I would spend at least two or three hours a day doing nothing but writing. Those days are long past, as writing is no longer the easy, painfree task it once was (though I only love it more.) Now I couldn't give you a number. Some days I don't write at all. Some days I write for five hours. But I think about my stories and my writing every day, typically every hour.
8. Fantasy and sci-fi
9. Classics or fantasy/sci-fi
10. As for my future... Frogs, I wish I knew. I want--very, very much--to be able to live off my writing. But I'm aware of the statistics. Willing to fight the statistics. But aware of the statistics all the same.

Again, welcome to the site!

Rach

Welcome to YWS!! You'll love it here!!

I've never done one of these before so it could be...errr...interesting,
Inside YWS I'm Blackrose, outside of YWS I'm just Bex,
I'm 15 years old, only two months till I'm 16,
I like to read alot and I do a bit of artwork (escpecially for school), plus I love playing competetive netball in school,
I enjoy fantasy novels because it doesn't have to make sense in a really life kind of way (it's hard to explain),
I went into google to search for sites that would give me writing tips about 5 months ago, and everything I typed in this site always popped up!
I try to write everytime I'm inspired or sometimes when I'm very angry (it usually doesn't make to much sense then, but it's a good way to releive strees). Well, with school work I don't always have time to practice writing, but i try to jot something down at least two or three times a week,
I love to write fantasy stories because I love going into so much detail that would ruin other types of books,
I'm up for anything as long as it isn't so bad i get confused or bored etc,
I want to be a primary school teacher when I'm older and I really want to publish a set of books by the time I'm 40!!

Wow, that was fun. I hope it was worth it!!
Blackrose X

Hello, welcome to YWS!

Seeing as you get to ask us questions ... what Sci-Fi tv shows do you like? I don't know that many - I'm more of a film person - but my parents gave me all of the original Star Trek episodes which I'm excited about.

-I'm Amy
-15, nearly 16
-I run a lot, cycle in the summer time, read, watch movies, do friendly type things with friendly people.
-Haven't written much in a while, but it varies. Mainly I write a motley collection of short stories and awful poetry. (I've written one unfinished fantasy novel that is consigned to the deepest levels of never-to-be-seen.)
-I read novels, lots of novels.
-Found YWS through good old Google, like so many others.
-Er, I write never? Or, at least, hardly ever. Recently I just can't be bothered/have nothing to write.
-General fiction. Occasional fantasy, but not really.
-Any, but my favourites are sci-fi and fantasy.
-If I had the choice, I'd spend my life studying, but I don't quite have the funds for that. I'd quite like to be a civil rights lawyer, or perhaps a civil lawyer specialising in women's rights.

I hope you have a good time on YWS, and feel free to PM me with any questions. :)

See you around!

-Amy

Hello there, Curtis! Welcome to the Young Writers Society; I hope you end up enjoying yourself here, if you are not already.

Sci-fi shows, huh? I never have been a huge fan of any science fiction type deals, but that's just me. Also, you want to be an actor and a writer in the future, you say? When I was younger - around eleven and twelve, I believe - I spent every waking moment looking up acting jobs and participating in plays, because my dream was to be an actress. The dream kind of drifted away, though, and now I am into writing. Anyways, on the subject of actors, do you have any favorite actors or actresses that you admire/look up to for your career?

1. Just call me Mizzle! Everyone does.
2. N/A.
3. Other than writing, I spend a large amount of time photographing - people, landscapes, nature, you name it. I also spend time listening to music that suits my mood, watching cheesy Hallmark movies, and spending time with my friends and family when time permits.
4. As for the kind of writing I enjoy, I primarily like fiction stories, and songfics.
5. I enjoy reading romance and comedic novels, and the occasional fantasy or suspense story as well.
6. I found YWS through Google, about a year or so ago.
7. I usually write either very early in the morning, or very late at night, and occasionally just when it rains - basically, whenever inspiration strikes. I tend to try and write at least five hundred words of my novel every day, because I do eventually want to finish and publish it.
8. I like to write realistic fiction, drama, comedy, fantasy, and/or romance. Fun, fun.
9. All of them, really.
10. In the future I plan on attending either Oxford in England, or the University of Ohio (big difference there, huh?). I want to get a degree in creative writing or perhaps even go to Harvard Law School and study to become a lawyer. I do, however, plan on at least publishing one or two novels in my lifetime.

That was fun! I think that just might be the first time I've been asked to answer questions when welcoming someone.

Need anything? Just message me!

Hey there Curtis! :D Welcome to YWS!

Poetry is really fun, don't you think? The metre, the rhymes, diction, and how we poets (or poetess, in my case) have to squeeze all that powerful emotions and thoughts into a tiny little poem. It's hard, but it's definitely worth the trouble and pencil-tapping and racking your head for rhymes.

1. Her Royal Majesty, Ruler of the Icy Islands and Pencils and Everything-in-Between, the Ice Princess. But people here just call me Rosie. Or Rose. Or Marie. Or Ice. Or Princess.
2. I will finally be 15 soon.
3. Reading, of course! And occasionally watching the odd documentary, listening to any genre of song, dancing ballet and acting. Oh, and watch House or CSI.
4. Anything.
5. Anything. I read whatever I can get my hands on.
6. The same way you did, except that I typed in "forum for young writers" instead. Google is a marvellous machine, yes? :P
7. I usually write between 12 pm and 2am. I don't really practise my writing skills though; I find it easier to just let my character/story flow right out of me. Half the time when I write I don't even know what I'm typing --- it's like being in a trance of some sort.
8. Any type of writing except for romantic stories. It's not that I don't like them, it's just that I really, really suck at it.
9. My favourite genre would be fantasy.
10. Journalist, writer, author, historian... I'd love to do loads of things, but I intend to finish university first and then go on a trip around the world before settling in and find a job.

Anyways, see you around! YWS is a wonderful place, and if you have any questions, you can always PM me. :D

~Ice.
you'll never find another sweet little girl with sequined sea foam eyes
ocean lapping voice, smile coy as the brightest quiet span of sky
and you're all alone again tonight; not again, not again, not again.
and don't it feel alright, and don't it feel so nice? lovely.

1. Tigersprite! But you can call me Tiger or Sprite, or whatever you like.

2. 14 yrs old, 15 in six months.

3. Reading. ;) And drawing.

4. Short stories of which I've done a few, novels and poems.

5. Short stories and novels and poems.

6. How did I find YWS? I was looking for a literary agent on Google. Somehow, this came up.

7. I write whenever I feel inspired. So I don't have a set time or day for when I write.

8. Fantasy, General Fiction, sometimes Sci-Fi.

9. Fantasy, definitely.

10. Getting published and becoming a professional writer.

What sort of music do you listen to? And you like detective stories? Have you read anything in the Alex Cross series?

Anyway, see you around the site! PM me if you need any questions to be answered. :D

Nice to meet you all! Thanks for you guys advice and the answers and extra questions :).
I like to watch the tv show doctor who and the previous closed down tv show terminator.
I see some of you guys also like acting and make movies like me and I'm interested to know all of you guys. I think for me and a lot of other people my favorite actress depends on their appearance but if I need to say who I admire and look up to then it'd be Angelina Jolie for her acting skills in the movie Changelings and other action movies she was in, also Lisa Kudrow's crazy acting on "Friends". I am admire to those actors who are able to appear differently in each of the characters they play, if they all look the same in the movies and real life than they are the worst actors ever.
I'd love to learn more about poetry when I get in college because they are so complicated for me right now. I love scriptwriting, though.
I listen to alternative rock, christian rock and R&B. I've never heard of the Alex Cross series but it'd be interesting to read.

My name is Suzanne
I'm nearly 14 (will be in February)
Hobbies ore mostly drawing, making digital art, and... uh... hanging out.
I really like short stories and novels/novellas, both for reading and for writing.
I found this forum through a friend (his username here is HIGHWHITESOCKS.)
Sadly I often don't have the time, what with schoolwork taking up about half my time, and what little shreds of a social life taking up a chunk of my time, and then there's the annoying necessity of sleeping... ;)
I absolutely love science fiction, but adventure and mystery are fun too. Same goes for what I like to read.
I want to be a scientist, perhaps a physicist. Either that or a psychologist.
Look at me still talking when there's science to do!
Spoiler
The cake is a lie. Snape killed Dumbledore. He isn't really dead. Data dies at the end. The little girl kills them all.

5.
6. My mom found it actually. We were looking up writers' forums and she stumbled on this one.
7. I write whenever I have an inspiration.
8. Science fiction and fantasy are my thing. I've tried realistic fiction and found it dull.
