This i'm not sure if I want to make into an actual story. If you want more of this then comment asking for more and I'll write.
The brick wall that had been forming between me and Mike ever since I came back wasn't a wall after all. It was a bridge and I had constructed it, standing in the middle. On one side was Mike. Immature, irrestible Mike. He was home, everything I'd left behind when I got kidnapped. Warmth, comfort, laughter. I know he really does love me but I'm broken, no longer the same girl I was before. I'm hurting him, all that pain and sorrow....it changed me. I try to act normal but it doesn't work. Beneath his smiling facade he suffers because of me. He see's my pain and knows that I'm broken and it kills him that he can't fix me.
On the other side is Ned. The only one who knows, who can sympathy with my pain because he was part of it. My light in the darkness and my rock of strength as I was suffering. I managed to hold on because I knew he was there beside me. And what did I do? I selfishly left him. I didn't think of his pain. He was always so strong, I didn't see it, but I see now. He took care of me and now it's my turn to take care of him. Hopefully, together, over time our wounds will heal but they'll leave scars. Scars that will not heal but will lessen and fade with time. But how the hell was I supposed to get to him? He lives all the way in Ireland and I'm in Arizona. I'm only seventeen! I can't even drive yet and I certainly don't have the money to buy a plane ticket.
"I'll pay for it." I spun around, crouching automatically, ready for a fight but it was just my mom. I guess old habits die hard.
"Mom!" I gasped, "Don't do that to me!"
"Sorry, I forgot," she half smiled.
"What do you mean you'll pay for it?" I asked, she couldn't possibly mean the plane ticket. There was no way.
"Honey, you're as easy to read as your father. I was actually waiting for you to come to this conclusion, I even bought plane tickets. I guess I should've known it would take you this long but, oh well."
"I love you mom!" I cried throwing my arms around her hugging her tightly.
"I'll tell Med you said goodbye."
"Thank you." I whispered kissing her on the cheek. I left the living room and grabbed a sack and started stuffing clothes in it, eager to leave. My mom was already in the car waiting and I climbed in, suddenly excited. I couldn't wait to see him but I was aprehensive not knowing what state I would find him in. If it was anything serious or if he'd...no. I refused to even think that, but they would've called if anything serious had happened...wouldn't they?
"I'm sure he'll be fine," my mom assured. But would he? I left him all alone and havn't even called him at all to check to see how he was doing. He was just as broken me and I left him for four months without me. Horrible images flashed through my mind so I tried to block them out by listening intently to the radio and ended up falling asleep. When I awoke, I was at the airplane station. My stomach started to churn with nervousness as I always do when I'm around alot of people. Another side affect of the trauma but I managed to quell it. It's now or never, I thought, kissing my mom goodbye and boarding the plane. The plane would land in Dublin and then I was to take a taxi to to 1543 Meadow Brook, Ned's house. It was take some hours 'till we landed so it gave me plenty of time to worry about what I was gonna say.
Hello Mrs. O'Reilly. My name is Ashley, you know the one who just up and left your son when she got home. I doubt she would even talk to me after what I've done. Would Ned even talk to me? Uh oh. I hadn't even thought of that. But there's no going back now so I'll just have to deal with whatever happens. Luckily, my mom gave me a credit card for emegency cases. Unfortunately it doesn't help when you get kidnapped and tortured by your own government.
Finally, the plane landed and I hoped on the first taxi I saw giving him the address to Ned's house. Instead of being in town like I thought it was, it was more out in a country setting with a couple small farms here and there the place surrounded by forests and hills. The driver stopped in front of an old white, two story house some of the light's were off inside giving me an ominous feeling. Grabbing my bags, I slowly walked up to the door apprehensive by how I was going to be recieved but determined to try and talk and see Ned.
I knocked twice then waited. The door opened to reveal a red haired woman who looked aged beyond her years. Like my mom I thought. She had to be Ned's mom, they shared the same eyes. She took one look at me and motioned me in. "I'm so glad you came. He's been locked up in his room and hardly eats anything. He doesn't even talk to me but I know he'll talk to you." Well, obviously introductions weren't needed. I was suprised to find that her sweet accent comforted me alot.
"Come, I'll show you his room." I followed her down a hallway and at the very end was a door. She opened it and looked at me wistfully, like it pained her to be in this room and that I was her last hope for reviving her son. I swallowed and walked in, setting my bag on the floor. The room was dark, and the shade's closed but some light bravely shone in. The room looked immaculately clean, as if no one used it. Ned was in his bed facing the window and just like old times when I was scared I walked over and climbed in his bed putting the covers over me but this time instead of him putting his arms around me and comforting me, I put my arms around him. I didn't know what to say to make it up to him. To apologize for I had done, so I said two little words that I know didn't even begin to convey what I was feeling.
"I'm sorry." I whispered in his ear. He turned towards me, his brown hair unkempt, his face drawn and pale. But in his eyes...I saw a spark of life in those green eyes.
"I missed you." he said almost accusingly. "I wanted to tell you but I knew how much you loved him. So, I let you go. It was one of the most hardest things I'd ever had to do." he shuddered at the feeling, his rough burr hoarse from not using his voice in so long but nonetheless it comforted me as only his can.
"I know and I'm sorry. I do love you and I'll never leave you again. I promise." Then to my utter astonishment he did something amazing, he smiled and when his lips came on mine I didn't pull away. This time I kissed him back and for the first time felt a stirring of a feeling I wasn't used to, happiness.
