The Obsessive-Compulsive Kevin

Hey, guys! I am a new member of the Young Writers Society. Perhaps some pieces of information about myself would attract some YWS people who would eventually, I hope, become my friends here. I am Caoimhin (Irish for Kevin). But I am not Irish. I just used Caoimhin so there would be one less Kevin in the world (that doesn't actually change anything.)

I am obsessive-compulsive (or in a much easier term, perfectionist) when it comes to grammar, but I am trying to remedy this by reading texts and singing songs in Informal English (like Rihanna's).

Only a few people like to talk to me because I intimidate them. Or perhaps, I share no common interest with them.

I love short stories, by the way. I was Edgar Allan Poe's best friend in my previous existence (LOL). I am not that good in story-telling, but I hope you will like my future posts!

Information or not, I'll be your friend on here, and I'm also not easy to intimidate. You sound like a great person.

I personally prefer to edit content rather than grammer, and I think it's very mature and responsible of you to know your faults, and to try to correct them (although if your biggest worry is grammer obsession, you've got it pretty good!)

I'm sure we could find some common interest, writing, for example. Just about anyone on this site likes to write! Don't worry about the story-telling thing. As long as your passion is for writing or editing, no one can fault you for that.

I too have a writing-related obsession, so I was glad to find out that I'm not the only one. My obsession is writing. I can't ever seem to go anywhere witthout my writing; I get uncomfortable without it. However, like you I have set my resolve to change; I am taking a writing fast for a whole month, maybe two, depending on how much time I need to break my obsession. I hope that's not too wierd to prevent our friendship...

You'll find a lot of grammar lovers around here, so don't worry! You'll fit right in. *likes grammar* Take pride in your grammar skills because there is a serious need for proper grammar in the world. Yes, indeed. *nods*

Can I be your friend? :3 I'll bet that you will have a bunch of friends here (iiiiincluding myself ;D) that will love to know you. You'll get along with a lot of people, and I'm really excited to have met you. Did you know your sense of humor is astounding? I'm really hoping you can hook me up with Poe sometime. (Or, I guess, Rowling. Whatever.)

Also, you're a short story writer! Yay! I love short stories. I fail at writing them, but I enjoy reading them. I can't wait to see some of your work, and maybe you'll have some tips we can learn from!

Firstly, welcome to YWS! We're always glad to have new additions to our family!
*rubs hands together* Glad to hear that you're a perfectionist when it comes to grammar, we need people like you
The part about you attracting people to be your friend makes me feel like a fish being baited, but no worries, we'll like you even if you had a third nose (don't even get me started on the second!)
In real life I intimidate people too, probably because of my poker face, but people like us are really nice (please excuse the inadvertent tooting of my horn) once you get to know us! That's why we'll get along just fine!
