the war

screams coursing through the air,
some people are just standing there,
starting, stopping becoming a pair,
in it together with a world of cares.

our lives our forfeit not ours just theirs,
family torn apart with us left to stare,
skin cut and clothes starting to tear,
we must have slipped into the devils lair.

golden light shimmering through,
all the rubble and blood and then onto you,
i see my only friend in this war,
lying dead, body crumpled up on the floor.

hasn't this already taken enough?
what else can there really be?
is there an end to this sick reality?

I like this but am confused by what you're writing about? Can you tell me?

I cannot separate the aesthetic pleasure of seeing a butterfly and the scientific pleasure of knowing what it is.
