Down the Tram Line

I tend to take quite a few symmetrical pictures similar to this, as well. I really like how perfectly balanced this photo is, but it bothers me a bit that the banister to the right has a bluish tinge and the banister to the left has a greenish tinge. Maybe you could pick which color you prefer, then use Paint, Photoshop, or GIMP to pick that color and disperse it on the other banister.

The Glare

Ooh! This is very striking! I like how the pink of the beak stands out against the white of the neck. I don't really think I have anything negative to say about this!

Unknown Animal

I'm not sure what this is, but it's a very nice picture. It bothers me that its antlers are cut off, though. If you have a camera with good zoom, maybe you could take the picture from a distance and zoom in on the image after it's taken. The quality would vary depending on the camera, but it usually works pretty well on mine. May I ask a question? Why did you chose black and white for this photo? I don't usually see nature photography in B&W. There's not anything wrong with it; I'm just wondering what sparked the decision.

Smiles in the Rain

Aww, this is so cute! I like how some individual droplets of rain are actually visible in the image; this is an effect that is difficult to create. However, there seems to be quite a bit of empty space above the girl's head. (I'm not sure if that is you or not.) Maybe you could crop about an inch off the top.

On Shaky Legs

Aw, this is cute, too! But the hooves, back, and part of the ears are cut off.

In the Mind of a Daffodil

Interesting! This seems like the sort of thing you would find in the default picture library on your computer; you know, the stuff that they use for desktop backgrounds on sample computers in Staples. But didn't you mean Dandelion? And is that color photoshopped? P.S. I really like how the center of the flower (or weed) is in the upper right-hand corner rather than exactly in the center; it gives an interesting new perspective.

From Silver Skies to Golden Roads

Pretty! Such a beautiful landscape! The picture might be just a little bit over-taken (calendar-ish, if you know what I mean) but that doesn't mean it's not a nice shot.

Okay, so I will edit in my review later. I had a really long and detailed one, but my computer decided to delete that for me. This is a great group of pics, though, so I'll try to recreate what I had.

That mystery animal, by the way, is an eland. They are a very common forest savannah antelope found in Africa.

OKAY. Here's my new review: (Finally!)

1) Love it. Great symmetry, great color to it. Awesome picture. But, as I am trying to produce a helpful critique, I'm going to nitpick the couple things that bother me about it. Keep in mind that I had to stare at the picture for quite some time to figure out what to say. These are very minor problems. I think your angle is ever-so-slightly off balance and tilted. But that's such a minor thing, its really not a problem. I wish that those cables weren't there at the top, in the sky. If you have an image editor, you can easily use the "heal" tool (or your program's equivalent) to get rid of those wires. It would clean up the picture a bit. And although in some ways I think it works amazingly well for the picture, that big park thing to the right kind of breaks up the very "urban" feel you are building. Again - these are very, very MINOR problems. Overall, this picture is fantastic.

2) Oh, YES. Hello grumpy old flamingo-man. You look quite grumpy today. You did a great job in capturing character here, which is what I've noticed with a lot of your 'animal' photography. I commend you. That's a great talent to have, and very difficult to pick up. Again, though, I feel like I need to find some sort of nitpick to count this as a "critique". The other flamingo's leg that is right behind Mr. Grumpy's neck? It kinda bothers me. There's a part of me that wishes that other flamingo wasn't even a part of the picture, but that is nothing that you could have done to prevent that. I'm impressed that you can get such a good flamingo picture at a zoo - They usually are in pretty close quarters, and are hard to pick out individually.

3) Yay, eland! Again - great job at capturing the eland's character, and great job in making it look like you didn't take this at a zoo. My only small gripe is that his back hoof is sticking up into the picture on the bottom-right corner. Maybe you should crop that out?

4) This is a really cute picture, but I'm not a fan of the style that this picture was taken in. Where many of your other pictures seem very professional, this one seems like a high-schooler having fun with her camera. (Which is by no means a bad thing!) I like candid shots, but this one seems too much of an in-between posed and candid look. It doesn't work for me as an artful photographic picture, but it look very cute. You guys must have been having fun.

5) Aww! How adorable! This is another very character-centric animal picture. Love your cropping here. You don't need to show all of the little guy to show us that he is, well, "On Shaky Legs." The bottom-left corner is a little blown out, highlights-wise, but overall this is one of my favorite pictures in this group.

6) Hm. I really like your concept here, but I don't think the lighting and focus is quite right to make this an eye-popping photo. Right now, it just looks green, with a dark spot. But if you could have gotten your camera to make each of the dandelion seeds in crystal clarity, you really would've had something. If you see another dandelion lying about, try to get the focus better. Like I said, I REALLY like the concept.

7) There is a LOT going on in this picture, and all of it has really cool elements to it. I feel like this is a picture to take to the cropping board. I love that patch of trees thrown into semi-sillouette. Make that a picture on its own, including some of the sky to add contrast. I love the lighting on the road, but the sky detracts from the road. My advice would be to save a couple copies of this picture, then crop each copy a different way. Don't worry about making you pictures normal-sized either. I think a nice cropping of this picture, even if the picture was really tall or really wide, would suit it perfectly.
