Autumn, Is That You?

Autumn,
is that you,
killing all the leaves,
turning them a deep dark red,
the color of tree blood
cried through each vein and pore?

Is that you, throwing wind against my windows,
bringing the rain in through the front door,
when I come in from the cold?

I think I saw you earlier today
in the fibers of a man’s puffy jacket
and a woman’s thick wool scarf,
too worried for the cold
to be worried about fashion anymore.

Autumn, is that you,
making the cobblestones
all slippery,
and making me take smaller steps
in order to keep my feet?

Autumn, I thought we had an agreement.
You weren’t to come until I was ready.
And I’m not ready yet.

This wasn't meant to be super good or anything... it was inspired by a friend's fb status. :) Thanks for reading!

First one to review!! Oh yeah baby!! :D

You never cease to amaze me. Your poetry style is so simple yet so descriptive, sort of like Robert Frost. I love the whole poem, especially the last stanza. Well that's really all I can say; I can't really find anything to nitpick. :)

You must be swift as the coursing river,
With all the force of a great typhoon,
With all the strength of a raging fire,
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon.

Insparation comes from odd places, doesn't it?
I thought this was really clever and creative. And we can all agree on this, I'm sure. Long live summer!

Haha... I wish I could feel sorry for you, but I can't, because as you head into winter we head into summer...

Anyway, this was very clever. It summed up (what I remember of) autumn perfectly.

Very, um, cute? Honestly, I need to invest in a thesaurus...

If you have to ask, "Is this cliche?", it probably is.
