Well, the summer doldrums finally hit; they just came a month later than normal. In some years, the doldrums can hit pretty hard with activity on the site declining by as much as 20%. But this year, the doldrums have been pretty weak. When you compare July 2010 to June 2010, activity is down by about 5%. But compare it to any other month, and activity was its strongest ever.
At any rate, the stats are below. Enjoy!

My Take
Although the doldrums definitely hit this month, activity in July 2010 was really a mixed bag. In terms of reviews, July actually managed to have more 1000+ character reviews than June 2010 (which had 1,786). Plus, the review ratio was an astounding 3.71:1, meaning that for every literary work posted, there was an average of 3.71 reviews.
On top of all that, July 2010 actually recorded the highest number of visits ever to YWS. Indeed, this is the first time we've ever topped 50,000 visits in one month. Since most of that increase came from active members rather than one-time Google traffic, it means that YWS has more active members than ever before.
