"Hello," I lied . . .

. . . but not really. And I never liked that book.

Anyway, hello, everyone, I'm Harper. I'm eighteen and I . . . like writing. But I'm sure you already could have guessed that since I'm here. One of my friends was really active on here once and then she told me how fun it was (and since it's summer, I'm bored and I like procrastinating my summer chores) I thought I'd give it a go. Everyone seems nice here and so far everything is surprisingly easy to operate (and that surprising because it usually takes me forever to get used to, say, facebook or something) and I'm excited to do some critiquing. So far my writing hasn't had a lot of improvement and I'm excited to review and be reviewed.

Oh, what about me, you say? Well, I like to write. I already said that. Oh. Books? My favorite writer is writers are Garth Nix, Melina Marchetta, Suzanne Collins, and Stieg Larsson. Movies? Seen too many to answer that one, next question. TV? Well, have you seen the avi? Dr. Who. And none of this Matt Smith stuff (sorry). What do I write? What indeed. I like fiction, and I'm currently working on a novel, but then again who isn't? And also several stories. Have I ever finished one? Well, does NaNo count? Then yes!

So, you found your way to the welcome area. If you peek around, there are some really, really helpful threads, like the welcome, and the FAQ, and the questions. YWS seems pretty huge, there are a ton of cool places to check out. For starters, there are the community forums where you can talk about all kinds of things. There are the lit forums where you can critique, and the chat area where you can meet other YWSers. Just click on anything that interests you. : )

Garth Nix is brilliant! And Dr. Who is brilliant! David Tennant is my favorite. So, what kind of fiction do you like, or do you span all genres? Personally, I write a lot of fantasy and science fiction.

Hey Harper! I'm Becki! Welcome to YWS!

I'm going to go ahead and say that NaNo counts, as I've never finished a novel outside NaNo either. ^^ Who knows, though? Maybe being on YWS will inspire you to finish one.

And, as you can probably tell from my avatar, I'm a Doctor Who fan as well. I actually like Matt Smith as the Doctor (sorry!), but it was definitely sad to see David Tennent go (he was my favorite for a long while). I guess I just like how Matt Smith geek-ed up the role and made bow ties cool again (sort of, haha).

Anyway, sorry for rambling a bit about Matt Smith, and I hope you like it here at YWS!
