Straight and Tall, Brown and Green

I am standing, straight and tall.
I am round, but not a ball.
I am stiff, but not a wall.
Who am I? Not a call.

Brown, green, and pretty white,
The hand of nature of me will write
My limbs fly high, so like a kite.
Who am I? Not a light.

Many types of me there are.
Some are pretty, some are marred.
I hate fire, I die if charred.
Who am I? Not a shard.

But even if the flames should lick,
Fair water from behind might kick.
Away with me, with flames that nick.
Who am I? Not a chick.

You have waited too long to hear
My whisper in your sad, small ear.
To who I really am made clear.
But now the answer must be near.

I groan, I rustle, and I creak.
You see that you have made me weak.
The call of nature now is meek.
A trickle of water, a lowly creek.

You use my essence for your writing
You care not that the wind is biting.
In homes, I am only for holiday lighting.
My kind, with the wild, are desperately fighting.

For freedom! From your groping hands.
For freedom! From your wasted lands.
For freedom! From your empty bands.
Life lies ahead, hot desert sands.

Woah :) This was amazing! The meter matched every time and I would normally say that the continous aaaa rhyme pattern is annoying but here it fit. However, I did not like the name, maybe it should be "Who Am I?" or something. I don't know, the name just doesn't fit. Overall really lovely poem. I didn't really like the last stanza but I see that it fits as a good ending. :)

P.S. Told you I wasn't good at reviewing poems :)
I am nothing
but a mouthful of 'sorry's, half-hearted
apologies that roll of my tongue, smoothquick, like 'r's
or maybe like pocket candy
that's just a bit too sweet.

Thanks, Jasmine!

I will work on what you told me, perhaps changing the title in the process. I didn't really like the last stanza either; it just sort of came to me, and even though it might not be what I wanted to come to me, I wrote it down anyway.

Possibly I might even change the whole poem into a more appealing rhythm.

Thanks for the advice!

It's funny how humans can wrap their mind around things and fit them into their version of reality.
