Okay, so, some of you have heard of my in-progress novel Thoughts of Irelyn. It is about twins Irelyn and Ryalnd--here, let me post the synopsis. Warning, I wrote this synopsis in, like, 2008-2009. I had started this novel and put it down until just two days ago, I picked it up again. I missed Irelyn and Ryland. I'm not sure why I had two descriptions but i did. So, here goes, I need to rewrite it, though:

Irelyn and Ryland have been close since birth. Being twins, nothing can ruin their love but when Irelyn commits suicide due to her father's abuse, Ryland has to figure out where his life is headed.
---
Ever since their mother died at the twins' age of eight, Mr. Walsh has been physically, sexually, and emotionally abusive towards his daughter, Irelyn-- while leaving her brother, Ryland, at peace. But when the abuse gets so horrid to a point where Irelyn takes her own life, Ryland must struggle to find his place in life.

The story is of Ryland Walsh's life after his sister's death, explaining his feelings of guilt and how he is trying to deal with tragedy.

Now, here is my problem. I started with chapter two--I had written out of order and now decided to attempt going in order... New things are fun, I always write out of order. So, as I said, I started chapter two. The chapter where Ryalnd finds his sister. I know, from a personal experience with someone close to me, that there is always an autopsy when it comes to suicide. By watching doctor G--lame, I know--I learned that one can tell abuse and physical trauma during an examination.

My problem is, is that the abuse would be discovered and clearly linked to Mr. Walsh, Irelyn's father. I really wanted to keep Ryland living at home with his dad. How do I get around this? I know, in reality, the father would most likely go to jail, right? I didn't even think of this when I started the book. I totally assumed Ry would just go on with his life, living with Mr. Walsh. What do I do? Is there any way around this?

---
EDIT: I talked to my momma and she said Mr. Walsh could lie. But, like, is it possible he could get away with that?

Maybe add another suspect to the abuse. Yes, he could lie, but there could also be someone else, a regular visitor or family friend, whom the blame could be foisted on. Maybe even make this friend have a history of violence, so the police are more likely to suspect him than the father.

Also, can you make the mother slightly insane? Who names their kids Irelyn and Ryland, unless they are slightly mental?
This guy is so evil you could put him in between two slices of bread and call him an evil sandwich.

Coming at you like a jetpack Shakespeare.

Haha. Their momma died when they were eight. But, like, I'm thinking of the blaming thing. It MIGHT work. Thank you C:
