Hi everyone!
I've stumbled on this site by accident, really, and am now mourning the fact that I didn't know about it before.
Quick overview of what makes me me: seventeen, female, technically English third-language. I've been writing for a while already, though my interest in it has only really started growing about three or four years ago.
To be honest I've been practicing a lot with fanfiction, but I also have a collection of short stories in the works, as well as a pitiful attempt at NaNoWriMo from this year, which I had to drop after the first week or so due to an avalanche of homework. I've slowly started working on it again, but the characters are protesting-you know how it is. I have a bad habit of abusing commas, semi-colons, dashes and the word 'and', which leads to sometimes ridiculously long sentences (my current record holds at ~140 words for one sentence).
I also enjoy poetry, though it comes less easily: I work better when I have an actual prompt or assignment.
I read a bit of everything. I still hold fast by my French classics (Les Miserables is, and always will be, THE book in my mind), but I've been slowly getting more into English-language works. Trudged through Shakespeare and Austen, gleefully joined the ranks of the House of Leaves fans, and overall am trying a bit of everything out. Poetry wise, I adore e.e.cummings, eye Dickinson warily and am still trying to make up my mind about Swinburne.
And I think I've rambled on enough for now.
Looking forward to spending some time on YWS!
